I don't know why people would only like amateurs to be in the olympics. How about Usain Bolt? Should he be excluded from the olympics? How many people are going to watch some amateur running a much slower time. Personally I think the olympics are about being the best, not the best non-professional. |

I believe you've got it right, Paddy.... And where do we find "non-professionals" today....certainly not in college football, etc....a scholarship is nothing more than a "paid-to-play" situation with a coating of camo splashed on it..... Viva Annika |

I still haven't been a great fan of sports being in the Olympica that have their own competitions that are regarded as the pinnacle (e.g. slams / majors). I still personally think of those medals to be like 2nd class to the track and field event medals where the Olympics are the the thing you are mostly remembered for. But I must confess - I do feel like a kill joy sometimes with that attitude. I certainly wouldn't wish it to be cancelled now they are having it. If the players are really excited and thrilled to participate - that's what matters more (even if most regard winning the USO more). |
