Unlikely at age 45.

If she wants to come back she'll come back very soon or not at all.

Oh and Happy Birthday Annnika! 39 tomorrow.

Yeah, that's right she would be 45. I was thinking she was 33 or 34 now, not 39, as Wiefan would say, Yikes!

I just don't like this whole Olympic Golf thing. I believe I said that right off the bat. The qualifications as posted by gxer....hmmm. I don't like those either. I mean...what's the point? It looks stupid.

The other issue now that Rio has gotten the 2016 games...they have NO good golf courses there. It appears they have a few years to build a course IF golf is included in the 2016 games. Selecting Rio was not a good thing for including golf in the games. Not that the IOC was thinking about golf when they selected the venue.

The golf people are sending out all the alleged "big guns" to campaign for it. Or, as Wie answered about what her role is..."just lobbying."

Again...I'm not interested in golf in the Olympics. But...just my opinion.

Not a fan of Rio for the Olympics either. But they can hold golf somewhere else in Brazil. It's a big country.

Unfortunately, the IOC scheduled the '16 Olympics in early August. Since it's in Rio they could have scheduled it in late September which would have better for attracting top golfers.

From what I've read, there are no good suitable golf courses ANYWHERE in Brazil...not just in the Rio area.

If golf is included in the '16 games, they will have to build one that is up to par for the golf professionals that "allegedly" now seem to think it's a great idea. We're talking 7 yrs in the future. Seven yrs. We'll see who's interested in 7 yrs.

Why am I thinking it's easier to build a venue for Rugby? But....I guess golf has more $$, right now, to pump into pay off their bid. Sorry...I'm not a big fan of the IOC. These are the same people who put ballroom dancing in the games. Hello?

Ballroom dancing is an Olympic sport? Seriously?

Yes, it is.

I also didn't like golf as an Olympic sport from the very start. It's just not a good idea for a lot of reasons. Now that I know there are no couses in Rio, I can also remove that from my list of places I want to see before I die.

At all Olympics, many sports are held far away from the host city. Rio will be no different. Golf is a growing sport in Brazil. There are many courses in Brazil. There will be more built over the next seven years. The decision whether or not to include golf in the Olympics is also not being decided just based on the venue for the 2016 games. it's not a one-shot deal.

Anyway, golf is now officially in the 2016 Olympics, so you now have seven years to plan alternative activities for that fortnight.

A lot of political water will flow in 7 years, who knows, by then, it may not be at all safe to travel to Brazil.

In addition, I suspect that Jack Nicklaus is licking his chops today thinking about where he can build a monument to himself in Brazil.

Rio is a fairly dangerous place as it is, but that's nothing new to Olympic venues. Athens is hardly a paradigm of safety. And the last time the summer games were held in the gold old U.S. of A., someone set off a bomb and killed a spectator. I'm a huge fan of the Olympics but I would support the idea of the Olympics being held in the same site every four years.
