
The HSBC LPGA Brasil Cup was first played in 2009 and is an international golf exhibition tournament. The tournament has 36 holes played over two days at the Itanhanga Golf Club in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This year’s purse has increased to $700,000 up from $500,000 last year, and the 15 player field in 2009 has been increased to 27 for this years lineup.
Last years winner and defending champ is Catriona Matthew from Scotland. She posted a back to back score of 69 for a total of 138 or 6-under-par. It was a clear victory over American Kristy McPherson who trailed behind Catriona Matthew by 5-strokes to finish in second place.
