LORENA OCHOA: So many changes with the numbers, it doesn't make any difference. I finished here where I wanted to finish, and everything is good.
Where? Must have meant at Morelia.

In fairness, the question did start with "In your mind..." In her mind, she's leaving ranked number 1. She's not hurting anybody, so what difference does it make?

Lorena did, in fact, finish her career as #1.

When she walked off the 18th green yesterday, into retirement, she was still World #1. What she said to the question was correct:
Q: Are you upset that you didn't finish high enough to be No. 1 in tomorrow's rankings?
LORENA OCHOA: I announced my retirement last week. Today, I'm still No. 1. I finished No. 1. So I'm really happy.
I'm hoping she WD's her name from the Rolex rankings.

True, Lorena's not hurting anybody but the truth is with her finish yesterday someone passed her as #1.

I don't think Lorena can handle the fact that she's not as good as she used to be. Lorena had a super streak for about 2 yrs that was about as good as anyone in this "modern era".

She retired on May 2. From the official rankings on May 2nd she was Number 1

As of May 3 Shin is #1.

Rankings are recomputed as of Monday, not Sunday after and LPGA tournament.

The above are indisputable facts.

She retired as #1.

what is indisputable is that the rankings of May 3 were based on play that ended yesterday.

Lorena was only technically still #1 at the end of the round Sunday.

Right. As of the time she finished her career, she was the Number 1 ranked player in the world.

As far as withdrawing her name, I see absolutely nothing wrong in doing that. While some may disagree, she could be doing a service to another player who qualifies for one of the limited field events based on the Rolex Rankings.

I think her off- course distractions have more to do with it than her not being as good as she once was. Regardless, I wish her well.

It shouldn't matter since she would not be playing, they would just move along to the next in the list, rolex or money list.
