Going by that I have to assume Miyazato is third behind Lorena and now #1 Shin. It has to be fractions though. You know what could actually be funny? Say Miyazato and Shin play bad their next tournament........ the potential is probably there for Lorena to regain number 1!
That's why I don't take the rankings too seriously.

Its not a secret, but I don't have it memorized.

The problem is that without playing Ochoa will start to drop quickly. Especially Since her best play is older and will depreciate quickly.

Neither of these will help an outsider determine how many points are awarded to a specific player for a specific finish in a specific tournament.

Blue the womens rankings are actually based just like the mens.

Official World Golf Ranking - ranking - Retief Player Bio - 5/2/2010 10:52:17 PM

If you'll notice that it is actually worse to have played tournaments from two years ago on your divisor then to have ever played them at all. Retief had a T-4 and a T-6 from two years ago and those two tournaments are actually dragging down his ranking. Points are given for results and decrease marginally over the two years until they drop off. The thing is a tournament from two years ago still counts as 1 towards your divisor.

It is a secret because the divisors on the Asian ladies are out of whack. Unless you see what they are considering a "tournament" for all I know they are counting some Korean club championship and giving them zero points for the tournament. From what I've seen from the last 18 months on the LPGA tour, Ji Yai Shin should of already been the number one player in the world. Unless I see the numbers, it is a secret and can be tweaked from whoever is in charge.

All tours do not count the same.....different tours are weighted differently.

T had the differences written down somewhere, and now that I could use them I can't find them. Give me a few days to look....maybe I'll come up with them.

Unfortunately I have to proctor eight AP exams in the next week +, so my time is at a premium right now.

But, X-man is right....the "how" and "why" in coming up with the rankings is not a secret....never was...Just complicated...

Regardless of who is #1 in tomorrow's Rolex rankings, here is Lorena's take on her retirement as #1.

(From her Final round interview)
Q: Are you upset that you didn't finish high enough to be No. 1 in tomorrow's rankings?
LORENA OCHOA: I announced my retirement last week. Today, I'm still No. 1. I finished No. 1. So I'm really happy.

Q: So in your mind, you're where you want to be.
LORENA OCHOA: So many changes with the numbers, it doesn't make any difference. I finished here where I wanted to finish, and everything is good.
