I loved this moment, when the 6ft tall caddie lifted her. You don't see that much in the PGA. Earlier when Hur made a great par on a par 5 after laying up into the hazard, she seem dejected after making a 15ft putt for par. Her caddie came over and hugged her from the side, sort of squeezing her shoulders together, trying to really let her know she had done a good salvage job. Hur often seems dejected, I fear for the pressure on her.

Don't know if that hug had any factor in this, but according to Larry the Looper MJ Hur's caddie got the boot after Sunday's round. She picked this guy in the parking lot at the Safeway two weeks ago and went on to win. Now after two finishes outside the Top 10 she lets him go. Hmmmmmm...

Great win for Jiyai. I only got to see the final round, but it was well worth it.

I think I made an error about the players name it was not Hur but rather Song Hee Kim. She was the one I was commenting about. I realize my mistake after my post but then forgot to fix.

I've been reading some more negative comments about another Korean winning in some posts online...of course, the fact that MJ Hur and Jiyai Shin both won in thrilling three way playoffs seems to escape people...I guess they'd rather see an American or European (gee...I wonder what that is code for) win by half a dozen strokes, effectively ending tournaments on Saturday...a la Suzann Pettersen in her last win...than have a tense, close competition that goes into an exciting sudden death playoff...I bet if Stanford had won that playoff in Arkansas nobody would be complaining...they'd be calling it a thrilling win...which it was...just not for Angela...

...but on a positive note...this is a nice article on Ji Yai...

Not to vent...but I guess thrilling is in the eye of the beholder...here is an article from Korea's JoongAng Daily...I realize people root for folks who represent people like themselves...but I personally can at least acknowledge a great competition even if my favorite does not win...I grew up in Philadelphia...I'm an Eagles fan...when they lost to the Patriots in the Super Bowl a few years back, I was crushed the Eagles lost, but I recognized and acknowledged it was a close, thrilling game and I didn't curse the Patriots...they did what they had to do to win...all credit to them...they're great champions...

...anyway...let me put a smile back on my face and think of positive things...

...sunshine, lollipops and rainbows...everything that's wonderful is what I feel when we're together...

Generally a good article from the Korean media but I'm not sure where they got the idea that Shin was tied for second on the money list with Ochoa going into the Arkansas tournament. I believe Ochoa was 11th on the money list last week and Shin was 4th. Am I missing something?

Yeah...I think they need to check those stats! Also, something bothered me about the article...I know it seems innocuous...but the part about her father buying her a sports car if she finished on top of the money list...maybe it was tongue in cheek...but my experience following Korean, and for that matter Korean American golfers like Wie, is that the dad has a lot of control over what their daughters are allowed to do...Ji Yai is 21 years old and making her own money...if she wants a sports car, it should be up to her to buy it, since her dad is not really "buying it"...he's using the money Ji Yai earned...I realize it's a different culture...but sometimes I worry when parents exert too much control on the Korean players...Ji Yai seems ok...especially since her mother tragically died perhaps she welcomes such a relationship...but I think the pressure might get to some players and I think bad decisions, like about the hire and firing of experienced caddies, are made by some of those parents...
