| What's happening is that there are a couple of posters on TGC that swear Jiyai was celebrating from the tee on hole 17 when Lorena left her first sand shot in the green-side bunker on hole 17. It seems that they are saying Jiyai was laughing and singing something like bye or say goodbye when she saw Lorena miss her first sand shot. This sort of thing seems out of character for Jiyai and so naturally I am wondering if any of you noticed Jiyai doing any sort of celebrating from the tee on hole 17. Thanks.

GXer, I saw the telecast and it definitly caught my attention that Jiyai was all smiles and singing. It wasn't Lorena's first shot from the tee, rather I think it was after the second shot that stayed in the bunker. The shot of her doing this was probably more ill-timed than any sort of celebration however. On the other hand, the viewer could definitly reach the conclusion that she was celebrating. Other than some of the international Cup competitions, I had never seen that before during a tournament. Jiyai was heard to be singing something but it was unintelligible to me. I'm inclined to believe that it was poor judgement on the part of the telecast's director to cut away to Jiyai after the poor shot. It mostly likely was taken entirely out of context as far as it being a celebration. |

I agree. There was around a 20 minute back up on the 17th tee and they showed several groups waiting to hit. They showed JiYai stretching and also laughing etc. but I do not believe this had anything whatsoever to do with Lorena's bunker troubles.

Excellent point LoJo...there was a long wait at the tee, which gives even more validity to the point that the singing wasn't in reaction to anything.

I noticed it too, but it was hard to hear. I thought I heard something like "say goodbye" but I could be wrong. It kind of surprised me, but I assumed she was just singing to herself to control her nerves while waiting. |

I guess that little joke was easier to understand than my crack on TGC about Wiesy needing to fire Anne Wilkes as her physical therapist. Lots of people didn't get that one.
