Don't know if your interested in this kind of thing or not, but I am reading a fantasy series right now (3 books) by S.M.Stirling... it's about the island of Nantucket, and a future day experiment goes wrong ,and sends the entire island back into time 2500 BC, and caught with the island is a Marine ship. A lot of the plot and story line involves a Marine thought process in how to surviving in the ancient world. At the start one bad Marine and 30 others decide to take over the world, and the rest of the good Marines try to stop him. Interesting are the parts on warfare, on sea and on land, and how they try to solve all their problems. I think the author must have been in the Marines. Anyways, if you find an interest in fantasy/fact type stories, the titles are Island in the Sea of Time - Against the Tide of Years - On the Oceans of Eternity.

Greentee, I may check those books out after tax season ends. By then, I may need some fantasy. Actually, they sound like they might be of interest to me.

Those three books I first spoke of are his earlier works, (but not to long ago and are in good book shops or second hand book stores), he presently working on another series, I think six books in length, I have read the first four of those. This new series is about what happened to the island Nantucket, but does not tell their story.... instead he tell the other story of what happened to the rest of the modern world when the island disappeared into the past. The island that replaced the modern Nantucket was not the one from the past and yet it was.... something strange happened when that experiment went wrong.... the entire modern world lost all electrical power and combustion engines and such no longer worked, (thier physics gets somehow muted down to like candle power streangth),.... planes fall out of the sky, radio/TV stops, no phones, no infrastructure to any cities or towns.... survival now is on its crudest level. Farther on into the story we find how some of the west coast of old USA survive.... many death and diseases wipe out massive population everywhere.... history as we know it starts all over again, more along bow and arrow lifestyle, and lots of cannibalism as most areas left of surviving humans lose all codes of moral. Against all this downward spiral, an a few areas around the world, (at present just on the US main continent), use their knowledge and wisdom to forge a future from the chaos. The author is good.... he paints vivid pictures of places and people, and draws you in until you almost swear you just heard the air of a passing crossbow bolt zzziiipp by your head, and you flinch... he is that good in bringing a fantasy world to life. :-) If you succeed in robbing that Old National Bank, have a look at his web site, it may give some info to helping you figure out if he is your type of author, or his stories stimulate your interest. I could not find out if he was ever in the Marines.... but he sure talks about Marines and their thought processes, throughout his novels... new ones included. If he was not in the Marines.... he sure should have been. Later man, take care.... use dark glasse when at the till. :-) smstirling.com gt

![]() Well...speaking of Jeong Jang, she's one of my favorites. I just hope her wrist will heal and she gets back on the tour soon. I'm not a medical doctor nor a fortune teller, so I can't answer your question.
