Taiwan lands 2011 Official Event

Focus Taiwan News Channel is reporting that the LPGA will stage an event in October of 2011 with a purse of $2 million. The event will be played at Sunrise Golf and Country Club. The event has a three year contract.

That's how the women have to roll. They could probably get another 10-15 tournaments moving around the world. They will be high paying, highly attended tournaments. They may not like all the travel, but that is going to be the new LPGA.

No news yet about that. The article said the LPGA just approved the event itself on August 12th.

How do we know that the events around the world are highly-attended? Do we actually have data that shows that these tournaments that have been popping up in Asia are well-attended? This seems to be an automatic assumption. Do we have any data to back this up?

Who is talking just Asia? Three of the best tournaments on tour are the Evian, British Open and Canadian Open. How about Argentina, Russia and Sweden?

It will be a sad day when that happens.

You think Creamer Gulbis Wie Pressel Kerr Thompson and Lincicome are going to quit playing golf if the US events fold up? These girls are treated like rock stars everywhere they go in the world. The LPGA and Womens golf has never had a better product IMHO. If the American media, fans and sponsors don't want to support the tour..... that is their loss. The first need is to grow the game in the States but if you are rolling a boulder up hill, I would say forget about it. If people want to sabotage the game in the US because they keep talking that "Asians are ruining the game" keep saying it. Enough people are listening in media outlets and they will listen to you and not go or watch the tour. Those people with those attitudes don't even realize that it's the negativity killing the tour, not the Asians. You focus on the positives of all the great players and the tour will grow.
