ajraymond,

I can only think of 3 female golfers that might fit your rock star analogy.

Ai in Japan
Yani in Taiwan
Jiyai in Korea.

IMO, there are no "rock star" female golfers in the good old USA.

Some one asked how would you know the crowds would be bigger in Asian
countries?
I think you just answered it.
These Asian men like pretty girls in short skirts.
Ain't nothing wrong with the rice they are eating.

Nice.

The fans in Taiwan might care, for once.

The LPGA and Womens golf has never had a better product IMHO. If the American media, fans and sponsors don't want to support the tour..... that is their loss. The first need is to grow the game in the States but if you are rolling a boulder up hill, I would say forget about it. If people want to sabotage the game in the US because they keep talking that "Asians are ruining the game" keep saying it. Enough people are listening in media outlets and they will listen to you and not go or watch the tour. Those people with those attitudes don't even realize that it's the negativity killing the tour, not the Asians. You focus on the positives of all the great players and the tour will grow.
Again, what proof do you have that they are treated like rock stars everywhere they go in the world? We have seen some sponsors, like HSBC roll out the red carpet for LPGA players when they play at their events. There is no proof that they fans come out in force to watch them.

It's nice to have a positive attitude. A positive attitude alone does not sell tickets.

The population of Taiwan is about 23 million. That ranks it 49th in the world, between Ghana and Yemen (https://www.cia.gov/library/publicat...eas&rank=49#tw).

Catering to the population of a tiny country is not enough to grow the LPGA.

I deleted my original message because frankly I don't even agree with myself. Might have been in a bad place at that moment.

If they are televised overseas I can usually find them on the web.
Can't understand one word but I still watch.

Isn't this just lovely. We find out that there will be a NEW event for 2011, with a $2 Million purse, and what is the reaction? Mostly negative. We are just barely starting to emerge from the worst recession since the great depression, and emerging from the shadow of Bivens and negativity towards an announcement like this? I just don't get it. It's a new tournament, with a $2 million purse, and it fills a week in the schedule. I can understand some reservations, absolutely. But this? Unbelievable.

I am all for the new event. I would like to see on US cable TV and not have to navigate and hack my way onto a web site. That would be my only concern.

The Japanese and Chinese love Paula and Morgan.
