Since then I'm sure that its diagnosis and treatment have improved considerably. The name comes from Old Lyme, Connecticut where it was first reported. Be careful in deer country; it comes from deer ticks.

I've had a couple of friends with it too. They're very vigilent about testing for it around these parts. Everyone I know has recovered quickly, though. If it could cost a news anchor his career, I'm wonder what it could do for a professional golfer. Meaghan has had a number of odd illnesses and injuries. Wasn't she out for a while last year after getting bitten by a dog?

I remember Meghan was out for some reason or other....can't think why.....

If your friends recovered quickly then they must have made bigger strides over the past 20 years. That's good.
Just read in the local rag that two cases of Lyme were reported here in the paswt two weeks. Both victims had been hunting feral pigs in the wild.....logical explanation....deer ticks.
I ride the forest trails all the time, but now I wear long sleeved shirts....lots of fun in the 100+ degree heat indeces.
Take care...

Saturday report

Just in from dinner - the Pacific Northwest has one less salmon - very good. The sunsets are beautiful - defy description, and the views of the snow covered Mt. Hood are spectacular.

We spent the morning with Spouse taking a 10 minute lesson from an LPGA teaching pro, then we schmoozed with folks in the practice areas. Kay Cockerill (in disguise - in eyeglasses and a white visor) took some time chatting with Mina Hargitae, Brittany L. and Anna Nordqvist. At 12:43 we (and probably 200 others - think Lorena-like in size without the Mexican flags :)) started off down the course with group #31 - Dorothy Delasin, Adrienne White - a young Canadian, and Cristie Kerr. Kerr had the bulk of the supporters among us, and mostly played a good round, but a better round alluded her as her short game wasn't as sharp as we've seen. The Golf Channel was all over her as she began to improve her score. (Stephanie Sparks scooting around on the fairway, various TV cameras were activated when our group approached a green.) Dorothy mostly held her front 9 together, but then began making errant drives that meant many second shots were from the rough, with bogeys the result. Adrienne played a bit inconsistantly, but made some nice recoveries from trouble spots. She may have felt a little uneasy playing with 2 experienced ladies, as she would occassionally ask permission from them to putt out, or mark, e.g., - when others might carry on.

Tomorrow, we'll walk a bit less - I'm going to choose one of the leading groups to follow, and Spouse will likely be alongside. Hope to do one more post for Sunday.

Thanks for the tournament updates everyone, it is appreciated.
Done, I caught her just before she teed off this morning.

I walked the back nine with Moira Dunn, Rachel Hetherington, and Catriona Matthew. For most of the time, it seemed like they were just going through the motions, since all of them started at plus five. Add in a few bad bounces and putts burning the edges, and interest was quickly lost. Rachel finally made the first birdie in the group on 17 with an approach shot within two feet. After they teed off on #1, I decided to rest a little and watch them finish later. Little did I know that Rachel would make four birdies in seven holes to finish with a 68 for the day.

Driving distances were measured on the first and eighteenth holes. It is the first time that I have seen them done on consecutive holes. One of the marshals on #1 asked me if the players all teed off in the same order. When I explained the honors policy for teeing off, he said that they just assumed that the first player to hit was the first on the starting time sheet. If the walking scorer did not catch the possible errors when given the distances, there may be a few wrong yardages for players.

It is getting late, so I will stop here. Since I have extra responsibilities this week at the motel, it is difficult to keep up with everything.

right now it looks like Pettersen is heading for her usual bridesmaid finish. What's up with Creamer? I say if the best she can do is a MC, she may as well stay away from golf and let the thumb heal. Paula can't rest on that Oakmont win too much longer without contending. Right now her detractors are only on her case over her new LPGA photo. Beats me why though, she's had that look for years.

Anybody out there? Is the weather getting bad? Different pin placements?

...looks like there won't be a 64 today...Harigae tried, though...

Had to step out for a moment, but caught the DVR...that was a sick chip in by Song Hee Kim! I am so rooting for her...leading the scoring average list going in...highest top 10 percentage...no wins...has anybody ever won the Vare trophy without a victory?

hopefully Ai will get that major next year. Until she does there will be many doubters about her being the best.
