As one who has just experienced a professional golf tournament first-hand, I can now appreciate the time and effort it takes to submit a report during the event. Thank you very much, not only yourself, but to all others, who have submitted daily summaries!

I managed to get tickets for friends from my home town, and gave them a map and specific directions on how to get to the course. When they were not at the appointed place and time, I wondered what happened. They got lost, but managed to get there in time to enjoy the tournament. It was the first LPGA experience for them, and they might now understand why I travel to all these tournaments. I spent a lot of time talking with Morgan's grandmother before the round. I also spoke briefly with Paula's mother and Brittany's dad on different occasions. They are wonderful people and I am pleased to know them. Much of my time was spent on different holes, watching many players, some of whom I have not seen before. I only saw about half the course today, but must have seen more than half the field at one time or another. It was nice to see Jiyai Shin do well, especially after a visit to the hospital on Wednesday, when she had to drop out of the pro-am. You can check the scores and watch the Golf Channel, which our motel does not carry. The ninth hole was very interesting because it is a reachable (in two) par 5 with water on the left of the green. Many players bail out and end up at the right side in front of the green. Shots landing on the green generally roll off the back. I saw several players having to drop after pulling shots into the lake. Song Hee Kim hit the best shot, which landed five feet short of the green and rolled to the right middle. She made a poor approach putt, but managed to salvage her birdie. Amy Yang hit a rescue which landed on the green, but rolled off into the rough around the side. Pat Hurst chipped in for eagle front just short of the green. I also tracked down ol'68 from the Seoul Sisters board. He was a standard bearer for the second group off the front side in the morning. He got me some water and a snack when I saw him on the 14th tee. He was really discouraged (so were all the caddies) by the slow play of one of the players. |

Thanks as always for the report Cougar. On TV they reported that Meaghan Francella is out with Lyme Disease. Did you hear anything else about this from your connections? Judy Ranking reported that it can be extremely serious if not caught early. |

Blue....the problem with Lyme disease is in diagnosing it. It starts much like a flubug, but gets exceedingly worse. I had a friend who got it back in the late 80's and could do nothing but go from the bed to the couch....always completely exhausted. It cost him his career as a news anchor on TV. Since then I'm sure that its diagnosis and treatment have improved considerably. The name comes from Old Lyme, Connecticut where it was first reported. Be careful in deer country; it comes from deer ticks. Viva Annika |
