Thanks, everybody...I was a bit confused by that...and I agree Buzzer, it looked like Suzann was getting ready to play...but I'm willing to give Michelle a mulligan if it was bad etiquette to not just pick up the ball...she was probably so upset with missing a putt she makes 99% of the time...

...on the other hand...if Suzann had missed her putt because Michelle broke her rhythm, then perhaps I would not be so forgiving...

OK.... regarding Michele putting out...honestly I have no idea why she putted out. Perhaps the LPGA Conditions of Competition are "strange" but in every playoff I've ever seen, a player who is "out" of it (as she was since Hur already had a 4), simply pick it up. There is nothing to be gained by her putting out as it wouldn't matter if she 3 or 4 or 8 putted...she's still gonna come in T2 with whomever eventually loses to the one who wins.

In the PGA Wyndham Championship a week or so ago, there was a 3 way playoff between Ryan Moore, Jason Bohn, and Kevin Stadler. On the first playoff hole, Bohn put his shot to the green in a bunker and failed to get it out onto the green. Once he hit it on the green he was lying 4. I can't remember, but either Stadler or Moore made a 4, so Bohn simply picked up his marker. He was OUT of the hole. Now it was up to the other player to tie the hole. No matter what happened, Bohn was going to come in T2 with either Stadler or Moore. (Moore won on the next hole), so Bohn finished T2 w/Stadler.

The stipulated round is OVER after the 72nd hole, so there is no reason to have to "post" a score for any kind of sudden death playoff...it's like match play in the sense that low score wins the hole. Yes, there is if it's a 4 hole playoff such as happens in some of the PGA majors such as the Open Championship, PGA Championship, or the Masters....not sudden death.

I don't understand why Redman putted out her 3 putt bogey when there was already a par in the hole....maybe she was confused (or maybe the LPGA has some goof rule). I don't think it was a breach of etiquette so much as it might have been confusion on her part as to what to do. But....again...maybe the LPGA has something goofy in their Conditions of Competition which requires a player to play out a hole in a playoff.

If they do....god knows....how stupid would that be? But..hey...it's LPGA.

Looks like somebody was secretly filming the end of this tournament...to our benefit!

...and MJ Hur's press conference afterwards...

BKB - Thank you for posting these. It was nice to see the press conferences - something that's rarely televised. And nice to get to know MJ a bit better.

Didn't see who was filming that segment on the 17th hole in the playoff. I was standing to his right, in the through line of M.J. Hur's winning putt.
