I have loved the LPGA for over a decade and believe that it's best year's are ahead, as a predominately full field domestic tour with a very strong global presence, and i have the facts to back that up, much more so than the rampant "speculation" that some here seem to go on only.
golfnut: Dont quit the topic. I have read all your posts and basically in agreement with your data and your conclusions. I have just been watching form the sideline, but.... you are way ahead on this one.

As the new LPGA management gains respect and credibility from potential USA sponsors and the economy evolves, new full field ventures will come up in the USA. The ventures in Asia and Mexico will on the long run be replaced by local events. An international Golf Association will be created on the long term as subsidiary of the LPGA. The LPGA may host one event in Mexico (same as in Canada) and probably 2 or 3 events early in the year in Asia in successive weeks.
Strong LPGA management, a renewed economy lead by Obama, a new gang of American players lead by Michelle will result in a very strong LPGA.
Limited field events will continue but at a smaller scale and with high prize money.

Yes and new sponsors don't want to put on Bush League events. They want full field 4 round top notch events (when they can afford it).

The LPGA garnered no respect when they put on 54 hole events. They had done a lot of work to get away from that.

Also these Asian and Mexico events that are limited fields are special events anway. They are the exception rather then the norm. Right now they take on more importance because of the current lack of us events full events. That will all change in time.

This is all a tempest in a tea pot.

Thanks xman5 and elf, i just didn't want this discussion to turn personal, and that's where i feared it was going, so that's why i stopped. I have great respect for all here because we all share the same goal: seeing the LPGA become as great as it possibly can. Thanks again for the support.

golfnut: You do not have to thank me for expressing my views. In the future we will probably disagree in some topics and hopefully we will state our differences in a cordial manner.

The Acapulco event, in my opinion (on and off I have lived in Acapulco for over 20 years), will be short lived. Tres Vidas en la Playa is a very old development that has never picked up. The new owners will probably try to promote the resort via the LPGA for a couple years as Mr. Carlos Peralta did with his real estate development with the Master Card event in Mexico City. The Morelia event has survived much longer than I originally thought probably because the LPGA has offer the promoters a very satisfactory deal. There is really no reason for the event to survive in the long term. Golf in the State of Michoacan (Morelia is the Capital) has little future.

As an anecdote: Tres Vidas en la Playa got its name from the original owner, Troy V Post, initials. The owner of Braniff Airlines loved Acapulco and made a huge investment that went down with Braniff Airlines. That was in the late sixties. Make it a "Bloody Lorena". Same as a Bloody Mary but with tequila and lots of Tabasco sauce.
