The Mojo 6

Ok so it has to be addressed, is the reason nobody has talked about the Mojo 6 because there's no interest? Isn't it interesting the event calls for the participation of the 16 "top players" yet doesn't specify how they determine the top 16? The PR says this is an LPGA sanctioned event. What does that mean? Why would there be an exhibition after the season schedule has started? Moderators, if I'm missing the thread on this site please move this to where discussion of this is happening.

I missed this one. It looks like it's "16 top players" not "the 16 top players." Is it an official money event? If so, that's lucky for the 16 who get to play in it.

This is new to me as well. I'm not sure I like the format, but if it helps bring attention to the LPGA, it can't be a bad thing. As far as the earnings counting toward the official money list, it would indeed be fortunate for the "top players" who participate.

That about sums it up for me.

Did I read the details wrong,or is it to be televised 'later in the Spring' ?

The earnings counting towards the official money list is ridiculous,as the criteria for selection is not based upon the world rankings or the money list.

It's a gimmick tourney which holds no interest for me...

Read about this the other day. I don't think that it is an offical tour event. How could it be? The LPGA is probably just selling them the sanctioning and the use of their name.

And yes it is to be broadcast sometime later.

Don't have much interest in it except mabey there is a lot of money at stake, and some weird 6 hole head to head format.

I find this thing positively stupid - if the $1M counts toward the "official money" the LPGA is out to lunch. I think it's the "16 who agreed to come and play" - hell, Christina Kim was at the press conference - she's 38 on the money list. I guess the 1st 16 who come forward will be the "top" LPGA players. This is worse than the Wendy's!!

Despite the sales and marketing hoopla, the format is strictly a gimmick. I wouldn't panic about any money counting for the money list, this is nothing mre than an exhibition. I would have preferred they called the event a "Challenge" instead of a tournament so as to prevent confusion with the tour. My guess is that this will be a "packaged" program for CBS which will include tourism features, a little golf, features about charity work, then a little more golf, etc.. The final product will probably be very tightly-formatted as a program for television instead of a golf tournament. Nevertheless, good exposure for the LPGA and a good thing for a year with fewer tournaments. I'm also happy that it'll be on CBS instead of a cable channel "to be named later."

I don't agree with either point,WS.

A gimmick event, broadcast weeks' later, isn't going to attract a large audience.I wouldn't have any interest in watching it ;and I'm the kind of person who could sit and watch hours of live q-school coverage if they would show it.

And an event like this can never be an adequate replacement for a proper tournament.

Still, with Christina Kim taking part, there will no doubt be lots of whoopin' and hollerin' and other over-dramatic banalities which will please CBS and the 234 people who tune into watch...

I'll disagree. Even if just a gimmick any exposure that keeps the name and players out there is good. All of the little things that keep the name out there taken together are important. Why turn down something reasonable that will produce revenue.
