Leon Classic

Hi there, you might remember that the MasterCard Classic was swept from the schedule but the Acapulco Classic stepped in. Well, seems like the organizers had money issues and the LPGA decided to suspend the event.

Nevertheless, there's already a tournament that will replace it (September 23-26). It will take place in the Club Campestre of Leon, Guanajuato which is about 3 and a half hours from Mexico City.

Even when several sponsors' have been reached, none has taken the invitation. Nevertheless, there's a 1.2 million dollar purse assured.

When will the LPGA reveal this Shampi? Is there any possibility that Acapulco would return in addition to this event?

Hi theeeere!!! well, my guess is the LPGA won't say a thing until the organizers find a title sponsor.

They announced the Acapulco Classic knowing it might not happen since the person in charge of everything, who was the same dude that managed the MasterCard Classic, didn't pay the fee on time, so it's most likely that tour is protecting from another embarrassment.

Mexican knew that Acapulco was stumbling but the Leon Classic info was released last week but with all the Lorena drama little was said.

Because BosqueReal Country Club was practically bankrupt!!! and there wasn't a business in it for them, only the sponsors were making big bucks, well, actually just a few of them like Rolex, MasterCard and other.

Michael Whan said the Leon Classic will substitute the Acapulco Classic and that's it! No further details will be released until all the details have been wrap up.

Some much for the big boom in Golf in Mexico. With Ochoa retiring I don't think that there will be any tournamnets in Mexico next year.

There's a contract for 3 years for the Tres Marias Championship and a 5 year deal for the Lorena Ochoa invitational.
