Hsbc 2010

Just a little local qualifying story...but the player pictured, Amelia Yong, has potential and might be somebody we hear from in couple of years...you never know...when Seon Hwa Lee or Ji Yai Shin were little know players in Korea...well...you just never know...

...they like to call this the Asian Major...I wonder, considering the money coming into the LPGA from Asia, if the there will ever truly be an Asia Major on the LPGA tour...

...I guess you would either have to demote an event now a Major and rename HSBC or some other Asian event a Major or have 5 Majors...

...the US Women's Open is untouchable...KNC...I can't see them demoting Dinah's tournament...the British...well, maybe that one could be vulnerable but I dunno...I don't think so...the LPGA Championship...well, here's where it could be interesting...what if instead of having an Asian Major they just moved where the LPGA Championship was played from year to year like the British and US Opens...maybe one year in Texas or California, the next year in Korea or Japan, the next year back in the States, the next back in Asia...kind of alternate...

A thought on movement of the event world wide etc.

If never in the same place, one needs commitments lined up for several places to make it function as a yearly thing.

And it also needs to fit in to other tours, if you want the best to play in it... not always an easy thing to do... yet if able it would be nice.

Last I guess are sponsors signed on and a good prize payout, (ala... everyone makes something at the event, everyone gets paid), as travel costs well aways be a part of deciding to attend it or not.

As for fans... there I see no problem, with fans around the world increasing, just fans from Asia alone could carry the telecast cost if needed. That fan market is about to boom big time. :-)

HappyFan, over on SS.com, also thinks the LPGA Championship should consider a move East...

...there is no doubt in my mind that there would be a dozen sponsors lined up in Asia to give a multi-year commitment to the LPGA in exchange for the LPGA Championship being played in their home country...China, Japan and Korea would have businesses that would do it in a heartbeat...

...it would probably anger a lot of US Fans initially, but I think as long at it was televised in the States unlike some of the other Asian events, in time fans would adjust...

Yup - we would adjust, as long as the TV coverage is good and available live (even if it is odd hours).

Oh..by the way...is there an LPGA event this week...I thought the entire world stopped to watch Yuna Kim! No? Well...they should have stopped to watch The Queen!

...man, that Evian win for Ai-chan really let the genie out of the bottle, didn't it...whew...I guess that shows what getting the weight of the world off your shoulders can do for an exceptional athlete...

Hee Young Park and Inky are, seemingly, morphing into one exceptionally cute golfer.

*drools slightly*

Although I'm rooting for the divine Momoko to win this,it would be an incredible feat if Juli Inkster could pull it off in a field of this quality...

Yes, Hee Young Park and In Kyung Kim are cuties, but I must agree with you about the "Divine" Momoko......She is finer than frog hair.

I have seen Momoko many times in person, she is a very pretty lady, and she dresses very classy.

Great birdie by Hee Young Park on the final hole, surely her first win can't be too far away ?

The divine Momoko's chances were scuppered by an inopportune visit to a lake;although she did get lucky on a previous hole with a free drop from the gnarly stuff to the smooth stuff.

All in all,an exciting tournament : plenty of (top) players in contention down the stretch, and Ai Miyazato continuing her march towards global domination.

A word of praise for the tv coverage, too. It focused on those golfers in contention,as opposed to focusing on over-hyped golfers who were never in contention.

See what I did there ?...

No we wouldn't and we wouldn't watch.

If they got to the point where they did that for money, then they might as well close down the tour.
