2017: Evian Championship

This week the LPGA travels to France for the playing of the Evian Championship.

In Gee Chun will be trying to defend the title she won last year when she cruised to a four shot victory over So Yeon Ryu and Sung Hyun Park.

Here is my preview and lots more!

Thursday play canceled and results thrown out. Tournament shortened to 54 holes.

Who knew this faux Major could become even more of a joke?...

Looks like the big "winner" from the lost round 1 is Sung Hyun Park. She was at least +6 when the rain came, including a 9 on a par 4.

And now she's leading.

I don't like the idea of throwing out the scores at all. If you need to make it 54 holes then continue from the point the left off. Certainly they could have done it.

Keeping the scores and letting half the field play under completely different conditions would be unfair.

But that's golf and describes every other British Open.

Evian

Congratulations to Brittany Altomare!

Brittany played out of her mind and ran by almost everyone on the toughest day, especially at the end of regulation. It's really nice to see such a charming young player step into the spotlight on the big stage.

Too bad the TV announcers wrote her off down the stretch. They will remain nameless. But Brittany showed 'em. She showed 'em all. A spot of sunshine on an otherwise dark day.

There will be many more sunny days to come for this lovely lady.

Nice goin'.
