2010 LPGA Tour Championship

There's been a lot of talk about the LPGA Tour Championship moving to Florida for this year.

This from Beth Ann Baldry's Twitter comments:
Looks like the LPGA Tour Championship will be held at Grand Cypress Dec. 2-5. Good for the tour to be back in Florida.
Sounds good to me!

Great...a shorter trip for a lot of the players...even many of the Koreans are based in Florida when they're over here...super...

Steve Elling at CBS Sports is reporting it as fact:
ORLANDO, Fla. -- After a two-year absence, the LPGA is returning to Florida, and in a significant way.

The season-ending LPGA Championship, staged last year in Houston, will be played at the Jack Nicklaus-designed Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando on Dec. 2-5.

The 120-player event, run by sports agency IMG, last season decided the Player of the Year on the very last hole. It was set for a lengthy run in Houston, where former title sponsor Stanford Financial is based, but that was before the company was padlocked and accused of financial improprieties by federal agencies.

The field will be pared to the low 70 and ties after 36 holes, then trimmed to the low 30 and ties after 54 holes.

Musta missed it. Will you be attending? I'm considering. Around December it's time to start looking for a warm place to travel to. I usually only go to Floria to attend funerals of long lost relatives. Would be a welcome change.

Is weather an issue in Florida in December? Am I remembering this wrong or did it rain for a good part of tournament in Houston last year?

You got it right. It rained. The course was completely saturated. With the limited hours of daylight at that time of year and the poor drainage on that course, they had a hard time recovering. They ended up shortening the tournament to 54 holes and playing the final round on Monday. It was a fiasco.

Er....not unless you hate warm and sunny. Should be great weather in early December in Orlando. Bring the sunscreen and the shorts.

I plan on being there. I've already told my daughter to get my bed ready.

I've been in Florida the last several Decembers helping my daughter get ready for Christmas. The weather has been good....cool nights, warm days.
As I recall (Lojo, help) the rainey season doesn't start until after the 1st of the year. However, it is not unusual to stand at one end of my daughters pool watching it rain at the other end, followed immediately by sunshine.

Florida's rainy season is officially June through September, but realistically is May through mid Oct.

Should be BEAUTIFUL in early December.
