Michelle Wie and Belen Mozo Swim With Dolphins

Michelle Wie with a seal

I know this happened before the 2014 Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic tournament rounds started, but I was conflicted about whether to post about this. I have mixed emotions about zoos and aquariums, even though my father worked as a zookeeper when I was a child. There are very good things that the best of these do…and there are not so good things as well (see the movie Blackfish). That said, it was fun to see the LPGA’s Michelle Wie and Belen Mozo having a grand time swimming with the dolphins at Dolphin Cay at the Atlantis resort. This is a few days late, but in the end I broke down and decided to just post it in the spirit of fun that Michelle and Belen experienced.

Sealed with a kiss

I think that Dolphins and Whales in Aquariums are very different.
Obviously Dolphins are not that big. I don't think that there is any evidence of Dolphins having a problem in legit Aquariums.

That's true. The Orca issues in Blackfish are one thing. My other issue, and this is the one here, is a general feeling of being uncomfortable keeping non-domesitcated animals in captivity. But even that also has pros and cons. There are some conservation benefits with certain species. It's a tough call for me.

...but you are correct that this is a different situation than Blackfish...of course, thinking about dolphins makes me think about the dolphin "hunt" in Japan:

...speaking of my blog, I can see search terms that drive people to it...one of the top 20 searches is "Belen Mozo"...hmmmm...I am sure it is solely for her golf skills and accomplishments...or maybe not! LOL!
