| Players complaining? Lexi has to earn her way on tour, she isn't special enough, no one is, to be given a free pass to every event. ![]() ------------------------------------------ Let Alexis Thompson play AUGUST 9, 2010 BY JIM MCLEAN Yesterday, Saturday, I worked with Alexis Thompson for three hours. We spent most of the time on the golf course. We worked on putting and she’s putting great. It’s too bad she can’t play for three weeks. That’s right…several players on the LPGA Tour have complained vehemently about Alexis playing in events. It’s comical. She could beat the players who are complaining like a drum; she’s proven she can play. The LPGA needs people coming to tournaments. Lexi can pull in a gallery. Why would you NOT want a great young player like Alexis in your event? The LPGA should let her play in every tournament. I’m leaving for Toronto tomorrow, Monday. I’m working on a new teaching program with a High Definition simulator. It’s super advanced. Let Alexis Thompson play Jim McLean's Blog

There has to be some sort of qualifier to keep just anyone and everyone that has the fee money from showing up to play. Silliness.

It's unfortunate that he has said this. This is at least two incidents very, very early in Lexi's pro career where her representatives have spoken out in a way that reflects badly on her, making her look greedy or unsportsmanlike. Even if other players did complain, there is no reason to go public like this. It only reflects poorly on Lexi. |

Why would players "complain" about Alexis playing in her allowed sponsor's exemptions? She's not asking for or getting any special consideration. Maybe some of those players would rather Dina Ammaccapane would be given the exemptions. (Come to think of it...I'm sure they would! Guaranteed nearly DFL place.) Regarding McLean.... really, STFU! If this sort of stuff continues to go on, she will suffer the same fate as Wie with her "team" sometimes making stupid remarks which are not her doing and not her fault. One would think McLean knows better or would have learned...I guess not. When "your player" has just MC, it makes you look really stupid with such remarks. |
