In "standard eligibility" tournaments two entry spots are reserved for Hall of Fame members. I'm not sure if the LPGA Championship counts as a standard eligibility tournament, but this is how she's been playing everywhere else in the last three years since her comeback.

I believe that she did earn the spot according to the rules. I also do not believe that she is taking a spot from another player, as some in the media have claimed. What other HOF member is clamoring for the position?

However, just because she earned it and isn't taking space away from anyone else, this does not mean it's a good idea for her to play. She's terrible, she's not getting any better, it's tarnishes her reputation, and she's completely delusional about the whole thing.

So,technically, you're right. But she's taking liberties with the exemption rules.

Would you be happy if Kathy Whitworth decided to tee it up,next year ?

Absolutely, I would be happy. I think she would beat Nancy and a bunch of the young ones. She could probably still shoot in the 70s.
Saint I'm not trying to argue with you but yes I think it would be great.

NTB,this isn't 'Life on Mars'.You can't wake up and discover you've gone back to a time when these players were relevant.

Hey,if you want to see these players, that's fine ;I suppose there could be a market for it.Perhaps we should do a poll to gauge opinion ?

I just can't get away from the sad reality that it's not really Nancy Lopez we're watching out there,it's a shell of Nancy Lopez.

I prefer it when the great ones stay retired...

Should that apply to Annika and Lorena?

Annika,yes.

Lorena,no

It's kind of a strawman, because you can't compare the golf game that Lorena still has with the one Nancy Lopez has.

If Lorena came out of retirement within the next two years,I'd be fairly confident that she would be challenging the leaders almost immediately...

I recall Carner playing here in her 60s and shooting respectable scores. I doubt age is Lopez's problem. I watched her a bit on Friday at the LPGA Champ. and some of her shots were just unreal: missing a 140-yard par 3 by 20 yards out to the right of the green, a fairway wood into a par 4 that duck-hooked into trees not even 2/3 of the way to the green, etc. I give her credit for staying in good spirits because I certainly could not have. These were "grinding" mid- to high-80s scores--she did not give up. I wonder if she just has the desire for a comeback once or twice a year and dusts off clubs that haven't seen the light of day since her last "comeback" outing.
