Question Lexi Thompson schedule question.

I got something for you guys to mull over.

Since Lexi was denied an exemption to final qualifying for the WBO and since her next event isn't until the women's Canadian Open late this month 8/26 to 8/29,
what would be your thoughts if Lexi played an event scheduled for next week, the week of 8/9-8/15, either on the NGA tour or the Canadian Tour?

The purpose of playing one of the 2 events would be to play at least 2 competitive rounds of golf before the women's Canadian Open. It seems to me to have so much time off to simply grind out the hours in practice rounds or on the range, is too much time away from competition.

Note: There is no LPGA tour event scheduled for next week.

What do you think, is it a good idea or is it too "Wiesy" for your tastes?

Are you suggesting that Lexi play against MEN??? Sorry....I just fainted.

There's a Duramed Futures Tour event in Virginia Aug 9-15th. There's a coupla LET events before the Canadian Women's.

This topic isn't about Duramed or LET events and it isn't about whether or not I support Lexi competing in lower level men's events, it's about what is your opinion of Lexi competing in lower level men's events when there are NO LPGA tour events scheduled.

So, Lojo, what say you, is it "too Wiesy" or is it OK with you.

I have no opinion at all as to what Lexi should do in her "off" time.

I was merely suggesting that .....in addition to the men's events you mentioned...there are DFT and LET events on the off LPGA weeks. There are probably golf events in Timbuktu as well.

It was surprising to me that you mentioned her competing against men since you have, in the past, been adamantly against any woman doing so.

Anyhow....I don't care one way or the other.

I figure most people will be like you, they won't care, been there, done that.

Lojo,

This is rather funny. Lexi has already competed against men. I had never heard of the Fuzion golf tour before but there she was last year while still an amateur playing a 1 day event to win a gift certificate.

She can play a few events on this tour to stay fairly sharp, the scores are good, so the golfers are not all hackers. Best of all, no hassles from the media.

Play mini tour golf tournaments today on the Minor League Golf Tour

PS: In learning a little about this Fuzion Tour I did find something I didn't like. Women are given a tee advantage...not good.
--------------------
Does everyone play the same tees?

All men play from the same tees, including seniors, juniors and amateurs. Ladies will play no less than 94% of the yardage and will compete in the same event.

Manys the times you have been told about handicapping. You keep calling
anything that is not labeled ladies "only for men."
PGA "professional golf assn." do you see anywhere in that label men only.
Women should get a tee advantage.
If they want to save the pga they need to change and let women play that want to

My contention will ALWAYS be regardless of what you or anyone else says about it, that if women want to compete with men at golf, they must use the same tees to maintian competitive integrity, otherwise it is by definition a handicapped event. Isn't that what you are saying as well?

Here are two well known handicapped events, the Wendy's 3 Tour Challenge and the Pebble Beach Invitational. In addition, as I found out, the Fuzion tour is a handicapped tour probably because there are not enough female participants to justify a women's division.

Golf in itself has always been a handicap event.
A Pro is a scratch golfer thus no strokes.
When men play women there is a distance handicap.
Not a hard formula to follow. Maybe you should write and tell
them to change it to the MPGA,then the argument you have would be valid.

I repeat, I have always said and will continue to say that if women want to compete with men on the PGA TOUR they have to use the same tees and as a matter of fact the PGA TOUR actually has in their rules of competition, that there will be only one set of tees for all competitors.

I know this is true because several years ago I asked the PGA TOUR about whether or not they had a rule in place covering tees and the answer was yes, only one set of tees for all competitors.

So, don't tell me to tell the PGA TOUR to change anything, you do it, you tell them that you want women on the PGA TOUR because it is your passion to see women competing against men on the PGA TOUR and it is your calling in life to see that it happens. All you want the PGA TOUR to do is, "pretty please with sugar on top", setup another set of shorter tees for women to use.
Let's see how far you get with that dumb proposal.
