A great week for the Swedish women. Anna Nordqvist wins the LPGA Championship and, over in Europe on the Ladies' European Tour,Johanna Westerberg won the Portugal Ladies' Open. It was her maiden win,too ;although,at 31,she's been around a lot longer... Pax Vobiscum Saint-Just X |

. Also a little bit more of her history, (video link), when she was in College. She was a bit shy, and not used to interviews. That to will change over time now. :-) Golf TV | Golf Videos | Golfweek Magazine: Golf's News Leader And a link of what her present coach says about her and her win. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/feedarticle/8558485

Lojo, Did you see TGC's so-called swing experts try to show how similar Annika's and Anna's swings are? What a joke. Annika has a full backwing, the club gets to parallel and sometimes a little beyond parallel, plus Annika uses her lower body much more to start her downswing, maintains her wrist cock much longer in the downswing and has a more flowing action at impact and the finish of her swing. In addition, Annika plays a draw most of the time. Anna's swing is short of parallel, sometimes way short of parallel, she swings much more from the top than Annika does, she releases her wrist cock sooner than Annika and she has a stiffer more controlled action, not only during the downswing into impact but her finish is not nearly as smooth as Annika. Anna plays a cut shot most of the time. I am not saying that Anna has a worse swing than Annika's because everyone has a swing that is correct for them but in my opinion, Annika's and Anna's swings are far more different than they are alike.

. gxer - Different heights would make for different swings right.... or am mistaken thinking that? As for those TV exes compairisons.... well I think many have been waiting and missing another American/Euro Annika.... then they have some one to talk about endlessly again. Even if it is only a very good illusion, as it fills up their hype gap once more, and they are very happy. For now all is well again in the world of ladies golf. Or... am I stretching this analogy beyond it's snapping limits. :-)

Another putting thought. If you guys noticed, Anna follows her putts from impact on by swiveling her head. I know you have heard that moving your head is a no, no but that is not always true for all golfers. For example, if you can sort of swivel your head to follow the putt from impact on without moving your head up or down, there is no problem. However, if you allow your head to move up or down, then you are asking for trouble. Just be sure to not swivel your head back in your putting backstroke, you must keep your head still until just before impact and then you can freely follow the ball as long as you don't move your head up or down. If you can't stop your head from moving up or down then you have no choice but to keep your head still for a few internal beats past impact. Anna does not move her head up or down, she maintains her angles very well at address, she does a great job of swiveling her head to follow her putts from impact on without any up or down head movement, and putts without tension in her stroke. Of all the females I have seen putt over the years, I think Anna's putting stroke is the best yet and that includes Annika who was a great putter at times. I watched Lorena putt a few times over the weekend and I cringed every time I saw her putt. Lorena is going to ruin her game unless she reduces that backward head movement during putting. She doesn't have to eliminate it completely as that move is patented by her, but she is moving that head back way too much at the moment. Lorena's backward head movement during putting reminds me of Charles Barkely's head dip in his full swing.
