With the Wie mystique pretty much over, at least for now, the media will be starved to find another young player to promote as the "new Annika." It doesn't have to be accurate, since the media is more concerned with making news than reporting it.

She would want to make some noise though.
She would have to start making cuts and she would have to start contending.

If she qualified again at 13, maybe they would hype up whether she would break Wie's record as the youngest cut maker at the US Women's Open.
But in order to seriously build hype, making a cut won't be a big deal for her after that, as it had been done before.
I don't think there will be much about her unless she does something really big in a usga event for example, the Girls Junior or the Womens Amateur, not sure if she is eligible for the Public Links competition.

Then why all the hype about Wie? Seriously, she hasn't won anything, isn't an LPGA member, and has, at least for now, lost her game. Still, when you watch the ads for any tournament she's in, she's the first name they mention.

Hopefully, Alexis can fly under the radar. Maybe the media has learned from the Wie fiasco, but I doubt it.

The reason for the hype around Wie is she won the Pulbinx at 13, got 6 top 5s in majors before turning 17. Remember Lorena has 5 top 5s in many more majors played. There are many more reasons, but if Alexis can get 6 top 5s in majors before she turns 17, then there will certainly be a huge amount of hype around her.

And that still won't make it right. My point is, the media puts entirely too much expectation on these young players. I don't care how anybody spins it, the fans, the media and the so- called advisors should let these kids actually be kids. Alexis' father seems to want to do thta.

This girl is good gxer. There is no doubt about it.

She is winning these tournaments at such a young age over a real nice crop of young players. We will see how she progresses.

You are probably going to think I am crazy for saying this but since Alexis has brothers, one of whom is one of the top players on the Nationwide tour, she is not going to get it into her head that she can compete against the guys. She knows better, because she can see for herself, up close and personal, what a talented male golfer like her brother can do to a golf ball. Nicholas Thompson is as strong as an Ox and can flat out "murder" a golf ball.

Not crazy at all. Alexis already said her goal is the LPGA tour and she had no visions of competing against the men. You are probably right with her playing with her brother. She has exhibit A right beside her for how good you have too be to play on the PGA Tour.
