And therein lies the humor. The absurdity of my comparison parallels the absurdity of a list that claims Yani Tseng is one of the 100 most influential people in the world.

Of course if it isn't followed with an icon of a dancing banana some people are gonna take it seriously.

I certainly believe that Yani has some merit. She is by far the top female player (for a couple years now) in a "Olympic" sport that is growing rapidly world wide. She deserves the recognition much more than, for instance, Jeremy Lin and his three weeks of fame (He did made me watch NBA games until he got hurt). Lorena was indirectly responsible for a gamut of new Golf courses in Mexico. Yani, with the backing of hundreds of other great Asian lady Golfers, will redifine the design of new residential developments all over the "third World".
Now, if she only wore a dress once in a while, she would redifine the dressing code of Taiwan and the mainland.

Time is in the business of selling magazines. I'm happy to see Yani on the list but it's not any kind of definitive measure of anything. The Time editors probably sit around a table and say, "OK, we need a female athlete on the list, who should we pick?"

Ask BKB: Hope Solo or one of ten of her favorite tennis players. LOL

Well now you are the one being absurd.

First off, we all know that Lorena was responsible for a gamut of new schools in Mexico, not golf courses. Don't you read Beth Ann Baldry's "stories".

Then, to compare Yani to Nuestra Señora de Guadalajara? C'mon! Lorena was feeding the Mexican grounds crews at golf courses all over Arizona and California with a single loaf of bread, and turning their water into wine (or was it tequilla?).

Any list that includes Pippa Middleton as one of the 100 has got to be laughable.

OK, yes...she's the future King of England's sister in law. BFD. Is she on there for her famous tush or what?

Stupid list.

Those lists are jokes! How can you be influenced by an anonymous?
Yes...I'm in jail because I was influenced by anonymous!

Sorry...I read this when it was written but was suffering from a foodborne illness this week...didn't have any energy to even post an answer...now I do...

But first...BKB is a he...well, maybe on Halloween I could...

...anyway...nope...I would never just name my favorites as most influential without something to back it up...I actually think this is one of the weakest lists Time does...considering the title of the list...it should be politicians...business leaders...highly visible activists...even terrorists could make the list if they are influencing world events...not the best person lists...maybe even religious leaders like the Dalai Lama or the Pope...depends on whats going on surrounding them that year...a scientist with an important breakthrough...I don't say an entertainer can't be on the list but there needs to be better justification than Time sometimes gives...

...the only tennis player I'd ever consider worthy of this list would be Billie Jean King fom circa 1976-ish...
