PakPicker - 2012 Walmart NW Arkansas

My turn this week, and it's only a 54 hole event, so this should be a quick tuneup for the US Women's Open next week. Your top 12 along with three alternates should be in place no later than 1200GMT/8amEDT/5amPDT Friday 29 June. The final field can be found here.

I copied your post from the previous contest thread over to here but I noticed that you have Jiyai Shin among your selections, a player who's still recovering from hand surgery and thus not in this week's field...or next week's, for that matter.

Oh, been busy for the past couple weeks...

I'll just add Azahara Munoz onto the ALT list and stuff Amy Yang in as place #12. By the way, why does top 10 streaks come to an end when you didn't participate in a tournament?

2012 Walmart NW Arkansas PakPicker tallies

Well, hopefully everyone got warmed up for the Open this coming week. A special welcome back this week to Chigger; we all missed you during your bereavement and look forward to your continued participation going forward.

Given the location of this week's event Stacy Lewis was a popular selection of our sixteen contestants - the only unanimous one as it turned out. Sadly she didn't pan out this week, nor did Yani (14 selections), Inky (12), Tutta (11), Paula (10), NYC (9), Yoo [8] or Lexi (7). Appearing in the Table of Points the first two rounds but fading in the last was our most recent major winner "Jenny" Feng Shanshan (14).

  • ROUND ONE SUMMARY

    PAKPICKER TABLE OF POINTS

Position. Golfer (# of PakPickers who selected her)

    1. Veronica Felibert
    2. Shanshan Feng (14)
    T3. Inbee Park (9)
    --- Mi Jung Hur (1)
    --- Karine Icher (1)
    T6. Ai Miyazato (12)
    --- Anna Nordqvist (4)
    --- Ryann O'Toole
    T9. Azahara Muñoz (1)
    --- Ji Young Oh
    --- Beth Bader
    --- Jessica Korda
    --- Catriona Matthew
    --- Laura Diaz
    --- Katie Futcher
    --- Jenny Shin
    --- Angela Oh
    --- Yuki Sakurai

So many players [18] in the Table yet so few of them, seven to be precise, among our selections. Ctmurray led after the opening round with five scoring selections, but two of them were Hur and Icher. Elf had nowhere to go but up as his only scoring selection was Feng, not that I'm doing much better.

  • PAKPICKER STANDINGS

Position. Contestant Points (# of scoring selections)

    1. ctmurray 55.00 (5)
    2. GCSVA 42.75 (4)
    T3. benchjockey 35.50 (3)
    --- Snells 35.50 (3)
    5. tonyj5 35.50 (3)
    6. Chigger 33.50 (3)
    7. rjay 32.50 (3)
    8. cannuck 29.50 (3)
    9. Friar Mike 24.25 (2)
    T10. The Constructivist 23.50 (2)
    ---- shungkim 23.50 (2)

    12. Verdant Garden 23.00 (2)
    13. coolfish1103 22.00 (2)
    14. IceCat 19.75 (2)
    15. Saint-Just X 19.50 (2)
    16. Elf 13.25 (1)

    ROUND TWO SUMMARY

    PAKPICKER TABLE OF POINTS

Position. Golfer (# of PakPickers who selected her)

    1. Veronica Felibert
    T2. Inbee Park (9)
    --- Mika Miyazato [8]
    T4. Shanshan Feng (14)
    --- Ai Miyazato (12)
    --- Brittany Lang (4)
    --- Katie Futcher
    --- Ryann O'Toole
    T9. So Yeon Ryu (14)
    --- Azahara Muñoz (1)
    --- Catriona Matthew
    --- Dewi Claire Schreefel
    --- Gerina Piller

With Mika-chan, Ryu and Lang more than making up for the loss of Icher, Hur and Nordqvist scores went up for all but three of our PakPickers after 36 holes. Snells assumes the lead bouyed by six scoring selections.

The less said about my pitiful performance this week the better. Given that she missed the cut last week I did not select Ai-sama this time around- big mistake that was. I'm using my wooden spoon to wave people along: nothing to see here, folks.

Now a nod to our winner this week, and with seven scoring selections Snells had this going away, beating the field like a bass drum with the biggest winning margin of the season to date and becoming the sixth different multiple winner this year. Just six of our PakPickers gained points from Saturday, including a phenomenal rise by season leader Saint-Just X, who went from next-to-last the first two rounds to #5 in the final standings.
