| 2010 Honda Thailand Contest Pairings for the Honda will follow shortly. How to Play I. Overview There will be a contest each week that an official LPGA Tour tournament takes place. In order to play, you ("contestant") must be a registered member of myLPGA and follow all the rules of that site. Play takes places on mylpga.com. Contestants can join at anytime during the LPGA season. II. How to Play Each Week Pairings for each weeks's contest will be posted on mylpga.com, typically on Tuesday or Wednesday before the tournament starts. From each pairing of two, or group of three, please select the player you think will have the lowest score for that round. At the end of each round, the scores will be tabulated. Pairings will be posted for each round and you will have to pick for each round. When possible we'll post pairings in advance for both rounds 1 and 2. The contestant with the lowest overall score for the entire tournament wins that tournament. III. Weird Conditions. If a contestant makes a mistake in his/her pairings, for example selecting a player who is not in a specific pairing, if the error is noticed in time, one of the Contest Statisticians will do their best to contact the contestant before play begins to fix the error. If the contestant does not correct the error, the contestant will automatically be assigned the score from the highest-scoring player in the group in which the error was made. If a player voluntarily withdrawals after the game starts, she and all her playing partners are withdrawn from the contest. If she withdrawals in the middle of a round, no points will be earned from that round. Points earned from previous rounds will still be counted. If a contestant drops out part-way through the tournament, they will receive the same score as the highest scoring contestant who completes the entire tournament. [note: Rule change April 29, 2008]. This is considered a voluntary withdrawal. If a contestant is unable to post picks for any round in the tournament due to a technical problem with the mylpga.com site or because of a problem with the posting of pairings, they will be given an involuntary withdrawal for the entire tournament. This will be treated as if they never played in that week's contest. [note: Rule clarified August 2, 20o8] IV. Optional Bonus Game-Within-A-Game Completely as a option, a contestant may pick, at the time he or she submits their first round picks, the name of the player they think will win the entire tournaments. Points will be rewarded as follows: 1st place finish: 20 points deducted from final score, 30 points for major tournaments 2nd-5th place finish: 10 points deducted from final score, 20 points for major tournaments 6th-10th place finish: 5 points deducted from final score 11th place and over but made cut: 1 point added to final score missed cut: 5 points added to final score, 10 points for major tournaments However, if more than one contestant picks the same winner, and that winner finishes 1st through 10th, the points will be split among all contestants who picked her. Splitting will go no lower than 1 point. There is no splitting for placements below 10 or missed cut. So if a bonus picks misses the cut, every contestant who picked that player to win gets 5 points added to his or her final score that week. V. Arbitatraion/Mediation/Appealing of Rules All decision on the rules are final. Just a few notes not mentioned from the "Official" Rules above. Generally when possible the first round is the actual pairings. Since the second round is generally the same as the first, the person running the contest will make up pairings that they feel are interesting. Third and Fourth rounds are actual pairings (or groups of 3 in order of standing). This makes watching the tournament realative to our pairings more interesting, and gives you a harder decision to make ( a top player vs streaking lesser player). Also many a bonus pick has decided a winner. Remember you can also lose points. Sometimes a person running the contest, may have a problem getting pairings posted. Say it is Friday or Sat night and it is getting late say 9:30, 10 and pairings have not been posted and the person has not said anything, please fell free to make up pairings. The contest man may have internet problems or an emergency. This has happened several times in the past, and someone had to make the pairings. We should have a year end champ for lowest scoring avg and POY bassed on points ( for 1'st, 2nd, 3rd finishes) Min of 50% play to qualify. I certainly will not be able to do it every week. I will let you know what weeks so that we can have volunteers for that week. Just a note to those volunteers that have not done it before, it is a lot of work to tabulate the scores and get them out timely. Be prepared to spend 2-4 hours. I think that this is the best format for a contest (then any other that I have seen out there). It really involves you in the actual tournament as it is going on. To all that are playing good luck. Lets make this the best season possible. |

The 2010 LPGA Season....Let's get it started! Round 1: 1. Paula Creamer 2. Katherine Hull 3. Seon Hwa Lee 4. Suzann Pettersen 5. Sophie Gustafson 6. Cristie Kerr 7. Jiyai Shin 8. Song-Hee Kim 9. Angela Stanford 10. Michelle Wie Round 2: 1. Lorena Ochoa 2. Jiyai Shin 3. Na Yeon Choi 4. Vicky Hurst 5. Hee Young Park 6. Amanda Blumenherst 7. Suzann Pettersen 8. Angela Stanford 9. Catriona Matthew 10. Sophie Gustafson Winner: Suzann Pettersen The future is looking much brighter for the LPGA as the new 2010 season begins. I really like what Mike Whan has been doing as the new commisioner. This year seems to be, for the most part, positive, positive, positive. As opposed to the middle/end of last season in which the vibe was negative, negative, negative. Good luck to all of the players. Here's to an enjoyable 2010 season on the LPGA tour!!! |

Hi all To make things even more interesting the overall top 3 winners of this year's tournaments contests will win a prize. Cougar has kindly said he will get the LPGA players to sign some gear for me. So the prize lineup will hopefully look something like this... 1st place an autographed shirt signed by LPGA players 2st place an autographed hat signed by LPGA players 3rd place an autographed golf ball signed by LPGA players I'll defiantly let you know a little later in the year what the prizes are once we get them. Every member except myself will be eligible for the prizes including the contest runners and moderators. If you would like to donate towards the prize lineup you can do so here. Even a little donation would be great will help me buy better prizes. Donations for next years contests I'll be resetting the player trophies tonight and adding a little something for last years winners. Last edited by Rusty; 02-17-2010 at 07:41 AM. |
