The Open Championship

Anyone on here watch The Open Championship?

Maybe not, since the participants were MEN who were not wearing skorts, and very few of them were Asian babes.

Anyhow....what a great winner in Louis Oosthuizen! I never thought he'd hold his nerve for 4 rounds.

Loved the way he played the Road Hole (#17) today. Took any "big number" out of the picture by avoiding the dastardly "Sands of Nakajima" bunker and the Road/Wall. So he got a bogey....great course management.

British golf must be slightly happy that the next 3 names .... Westwood, McIlroy and Casey...are about as close as they've been to a champion since when? Faldo? Lawrie?

American golfers didn't show up for this one....particularly, Tiggy and Lefty. Ho Hum. They'll do better on the manicured lawns of the good ol' US of A.

Louis Oosthuizen....the Champion Golfer of the Year!

I was rooting for Big John Daly. Alas he was done after day one.
Great pair of pants today.

I was also kind of rooting for Daly, just given his recent problems. It wasn't meant to be, but it would have been a great story.

I agree that Oosthuizen truly earned the win. I thought he might fold under the pressure, but he played extremely well.

I was rather surprised that Tiger didn't fare well. His game seems to have gone down the tubes. Maybe his off- course problems are taking a toll.

John Daly has been done for a long time.

You've GOT to be kidding about those pants, notax. The epitome of the UGLY AMERICAN. What a way to desecrate the honor of the Stars and Stripes!

All he needs is a red clown nose. Embarrassing.

I was glued to the tv throughout.

Great win by Oosthuizen - I'm reliably informed the first part of his name is pronounced 'West',but nobody will ever say it like that - and another 'so near yet so far' for Westwood.

He's got to win one of these things some time, surely ?

Or perhaps Rory McIlroy will beat him to it.There's a lot of good, young talent coming through in the men's game,it's an almost imperceptible changing of the guard. And you really start to feel old when you it hits you that the Cañizares kid you're now watching is the son of José-Maria Cañizares who you used to watch.

The last day lacked any drama ;so it was more about the majesty of the occasion. The Road Hole has to be the greatest hole in golf, but it's followed by a horrible finishing hole.

They should put a lake in front of the green at eighteen, watch the old gents at the R&A have conniptions.

It was a laugh-riot to watch Woods struggle again. This was the year when the Majors were set up for him to close in on Nicklaus' record : Augusta,Pebble,St Andrews. He's got an O-fer going, and I can't see him winning at Whistling Straits.

Good times,good times.

Lefty still hasn't come to terms with links golf.I'm guessing he never will.

The leading amateur,Jin Jeong, was a Korean. Can a male Jan Stephenson be far behind...

A little tongue-in-cheek about the pants.
He is from my home state of Arkansas and we would drape ourselves in the
flag. All a bunch of redneck red white and blue boys.
I'm sure he meant no harm.

It was great to have all day coverage of The Open and see how the whole thing developed. I'm still not sure they should have had the 'high wind' stoppage, it didn't appear any different when they got back out there, and it certainly broke the rhythm of some. I know Martin Kaymer complained at having had to play through the wind before they stopped, saying if the earlier groups had to play then the later ones should as well. As it turned out those playing early in the rain had the best of the day.

Oosthuizen played so well all four days and thoroughly deserved his win. Very low key about it all. I liked how he took time to focus, especially on the first tee. I didn't see it as time wasting, but not getting ahead of himself.

The course looked in brilliant condition, those fairways looked better than most greens! Almost impossible on some holes to tell where fairway ended and green started.

Aside from the insult to the flag and them being inappropriate, I don't think Daly's pants were any worse than when Poulter wore Union Jack pants - except the size of them, Poulter's looked better.

With no commercial breaks,either.

On Friday,it was possible to watch 13 hours' straight of live golf, the 70 minute weather delay notwithstanding.

And that's exactly what I did...

I thought he would fold on Sunday as well plus I expected Paul Casey to win.
However, Paul Casey is the one who folded and we got a hint that Paul was going to fold when he missed that short birdie putt on the first hole.

Louis has a good swing, putts very well and he appears to be mentally strong so I wonder, why had this guy missed 7 of 8 cuts in previous Majors?

It's possible and may be very likely that Louis is just another one hit wonder in Majors, although I hope he isn't.
