KPGA Awards Show

Just for equal measure, I thought I should mention the KPGA, the Korean men's tour had their awards ceremony...and it looks like dance fever is spreading in Korea! As KLPGA Player of the Year Hee Kyung Seo participated in the dance for the ladies, KPGA Player of the Year, Sang Moon Bae, danced at the men's event.

The Korea Men doing a routine based on Korean boy bands Super Junior and 2AM

Strike a pose!

...but on with the show and awards...

The big winner was, of course, the Player of the Year, Sang Moon Bae

Sang Moon Bae seated, with the #2 and #3 points earners, Dae Seop Kim and Sung Ho Lee standing

Well, I noticed the show was sponsored by Ballantine's (a Scotch Whisky) so maybe they all got loaded before taking to the stage.

I must say...and I don't mean this in a negative way....Asians are strange when it comes to stuff like this. Just thinking back to all the Karaoke mania that swept Japan in recent years.

Seems like Asians are much more open to standing up and "making fools of themselves" (in a good fun way) than uptight Westerners are.

I still think it's rather odd that an "Awards" ceremony would include such antics...but....whatever.

Speaking of the karaoke fad in Asia...the South Korean skater Yuna Kim, the current World Champion and favorite for the Gold in Vancouver has a very popular video on YouTube doing Karaoke...but I swear, for a figure skater, she is surprisingly good...despite the fact that she is joking with her friends while singing...

...the song is by Korean Pop star BoA..."If You Were Here Tonight"

She has even sung at some of her ice shows:

I think your comment about Asians being less uptight is pretty accurate. It seems from the pictures both here and on the other thead that everybody is enjoying themselves.

You are forgetting the hippie dippy make love not war generation, aren't you? Did you not live through them as well?

I know with old age we start to forget things, but surely you remember flower power. Bet you were one of those roving youths of the hippie and yuppie gens, long hair, painted face, and the always two fingered V sign for love and peace.... or did you miss all that hunkered down in your Nuke bunker? Merry Holidays old saged one.
