I was very disappointed!

I was watching the St. Jude Classic Tournament from Memphis, TN. At the end, it was a 3-way tie between Lee Westwood, Robert Karlsson and Robert Garrigus. It went to a sudden death play-off between the 3 of them. Then, Garrigus who was actually leading by 3 strokes during regulation, but made a triple bogeys at the 18th, was eliminated in the first play-off. Westwood and Karlsson went on to play the 11th, the 14th, and the 18th holes sudden death play-off. Finally, at the 18th hole, Lee Westwood won by making a birdie. He was the first European to win this tournament according to the CBS announcer.
I was really very disappointed because Lee Westwood, being the first European to win this tournament did not even give an interview and did not even say "thank you" to those people who watched and supported him. What kind of manner was that! Do they speak English in Nottinghamshire, England?

Tuned out as soon as he made the putt.

Well, nobody will notice anyway because he isn't ASIAN! Bad manners only apply to Asians.

Oh yeah? In your own mind, none of us said that in the previous thread. Bad manners are bad manners wherever you come from. There was no interview because CBS ran over time and they cut the coverage as soon as Westwood won, so your rant is a load of BS. 60 Minutes is way more important than some naff golf tournament.

Yes, they actually speak real English in Nottingham.

Actually, DB has a point. Where's the outrage? Why aren't posters whining about Westwood?

It's a frivolous argument and you and dangerbob are smart enough to know this.

Did CBS stay on the air and interview the runner-up or stand there and say, "Lee Westwood won't be giving an interview because he's not comfortable with it?"

No. They didn't interview him on-air because there wasn't time and the coverage ended immediately after he won. This happens all the time when tournaments run late. It's not an issue. It becomes an issue when there is plenty of time for an interview but the TV announcer tell us the winner doesn't want to speak and they stand around and talk to the runner-up instead.

In addition, with regard to the Sun Young Yoo discussion, I don't think any posters were "whining." Some had one opinion. Some had another.

He doesn't have a point, THAT'S the point! Blame CBS, not Westwood or us. I'll whine about Westwood all right, and his week after week snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. He didn't even want to win this one from what I saw. I'm not sure his 'positive thinking' is working for him.

Anyone notice how Garrigus just sat on the grass instead of getting behind Karlsson's putt once he'd struck it? Anyone feel he might have sunk that putt if he had gone to school on it and given himself one more chance? Horrible play on the 72nd hole, and cruel luck on the first play off hole. I suppose the little things are why he is where he is right now. Hopefully he'll get through this and be in contention sometime. Good on him for fronting the interview, which was on while CBS were still covering the event.

The jokes on you, DB, because you picked the wrong occasion to do it.
