I caught some of the second round on Golf Night (Maria Hjorth's watery finish),but when I put it on last night it was showing that men's European Tour event in South Africa. I guess I'd missed it. On a side note,I always find it a bit underwhelming when the European Tour starts its new season a week or two after the previous one ended... Pax Vobiscum Saint-Just X |

I reckon Wie will stay ahead of In Kyung in the next rankings. |

. For In-Kyung Kim (Inky), this win is a great win for her, for she was struggling to get her game back, which had taken a nose dive. New caddie (Annika's old one), looks to be the ticket in bringing Kim's game back around to skill it used to be. Watch out world in 2010, the ink is back in the pen, and again ready to write history. Now she needs a Major under her belt, and if she keeps this high skill up that should not be a problem. And now that she has a LET card.... she may play it to. This girl we have not seen her best yet, and she is only at the wie age of 21. :-) And Michelle Wie storming into second from far back, almost going for the win, incredible golf posting a 65 on the last day.... well this well do wonders for the media press for awhile. Not only that, but the US fans and players have one more super contender for 2010. Just what the US needs, and it well come, a little slow as most things are catching up when a new level of golf arrives. Those US fans who see the US players as week, or second best with foreign players, are not looking outside the box. Many young ones, and established pros, have upped their game, and are just now getting into speed with in this new level of golf. Not to worry.... there well come a day again.... and I think fair soon, when the US players by number well dominate the LPGA again.... the numbers, and increased game knowledge and discipline, would prove that out anyways in time. Look around you, but also look ahead to.... Michelle Wie has been that message bringer since she was 13.... and she is finally here now, center stage and holding her own against all comers, don't put down your white hope. And as MW blazes her new path... one can already see the young ones following fast in her footsteps.... and the established golfers already re-energizing. If one does not like this scenario, you've got to be a down-and-out pessimist then. :-) Many good and great players hunting for this win this time, some of the best in Europe making runs at the win.... with that wonder surprise 2009 rookie Anna Nordqvist doing her best Annika imitation again. This girl is probably the best surprise golfer on both sides of the Ocean.... and we get to see her a lot next year. This LET event in the desert, (even though I did not see it on TV), is a good one for all Tours, LPGA KLPGA, LET, JLPGA and the African tour, (I forget their name). A nice show case of top talent of all the world, at the end of the year. LET has a winner here, a big winner that could get a lot bigger yet. One other thing I like about it... it is centrally located in the middle part of the world, and where the climate this time of year is almost always good to go. :-) I knew not of this event last year, but next year I look forward to it, and hopefully the Golf Channel well get involved, and I can see it on TV. :-)

Edit. BTW, if Michelle's points would be divided by the events she participated (29) instead of 35 she would be in the top Five. So in 2010 she still has a large gap ahead and could be moving rapidly in the rankings. Last edited by Elf; 12-14-2009 at 04:34 PM. |
