| Senior Member | The organizers were hoping for a pairing of Lydia and Lexi, at least for the opening round, and it appears that they got their wish. Kristie Smith, who tied for 3rd last week 5 shots behind Ko, is the other player in the threesome that will tee off at #10 at 11:50am local. Queensland does not observe Daylight Savings Time and is thus 15 hours ahead of Boston and 18 hours ahead of Seattle. TV coverage is only on Saturday (2-6pm local) and Sunday (1-6pm local) on ABC 1 in Australia. After showers innudated the course the past few days conditions for the weekend are expected to be mostly sunny and in the low to mid 20s C. The full draw is a PDF file off the ALPG's website. Kevin

*THIS* tournament is actually interesting for numerous reasons. IceCat pointed out the phenom pairing of Lydia and Lexi. But there's more to it than that! * Favorites for the 2012 LPGA Rookie of the Year will battle. Lydia may be the one paired with Lexi. But So Yeon Ryu will mostly likely be the player we see competing with Lexi for the ROY title this year. * 2011 KLPGA fan favorites will battle So Yeon Ryu and Ha-Neul Kim look to battle it out again. Last year, Kim beat Ryu to take POY honors. With Ryu joining the LPGA this year, this'll be one of the few tournaments where both Korean fan favorites will play. * Good Tournament Field Strength While Lydia Ko won the NSW Open this week (which I definitely acknowledge is a HUGE accomplishment for a 14 year old), it was a tournament with a relatively weak strength of field. The RACV Ladies Masters, on the other hand, features... - Caroline Hedwall (LET Rookie/Player of the Year) - Hee Young Park (LPGA Titleholders champion) - Stacy Lewis (2011 Kraft Nabisco champion) - Danielle Kang (2010/2011 U.S. Women's Amateur champion) - Ha-Neul Kim (2011 KLPGA Player of the Year) - Lexi Thompson (2011 LPGA Navistar champion) - So Yeon Ryu (Along with Lexi...favorite to win 2012 LPGA's Rookie of the Year) Yes...the tournament also includes Katherine Hull, Melissa Reid, Sophie Gustafson, Christina Kim. Its too bad Yani decided not to defend her 2011 title, otherwise her participation would have made this tournament even more remarkable. It would be quite a remarkable feat if Lydia can come on top of this field. |

I wish the golf channel carry The RACV Ladies Masters instead of all the reruns. So much is happening and I can't watch it. Lexi and Stacy vs Seo and Ryo. Plus Ha-Neul Kim, Hee Young Park, Caroline Hedwall and Lydia Ko.

I am surprised Webbie isn't playing this week given she is from Qld. I assume it must be a scheduling issue with the tournaments coming after the Oz Open next week. She is starting the season next week, as is Tseng.

Interesting leaderboard : Lee-Ryu-Seo-Boeljon-Thompson. Lydia Ko is five back at -2. Future Solheim Cup star,Carlota Ciganda,is six back at -1 ;the very lovely Ha-Neul Kim is at level par. This would be a nice tournament to watch... Pax Vobiscum Saint-Just X |

Ya, I'd like to watch this event even on a tape delay vs. old re-runs of Haney Projects....WTF...TGC....seems like the course has some good water hazards.

It looks like So Yeon Ryu may end up with a -10 (or maybe even better?) today. She's up 3 strokes with 2 more holes to play. I must say a win here would definitely reinforce her as the odds on favorite to win the LPGA ROY. While a victory won't count towards the LPGA ROY award, it will add to her Rolex points.

Ryu...-17 after 2 rds is scary....didn't know she's only 22. I predict a win @ -23 or -24. As I have said b4.....Ryu and Lexi will leave all others in the dust as the only 2 gals to compete for ROY. |
