His name is Matteo Manassero.
There is an 18 yr old age requirement for the PGA Tour.

Matteo is going to play on the European Tour this summer. He will have to play on Sponsor's Exemptions, which he will undoubtedly get. I think he can play 7 times on an exemption. He'll also probably try to qualify for the Open Championship and ??? other events.

He was invited to the Masters (and last years Open Championship, where he had a top 20 finish) by virtue of being the 2009 British Amateur Champion, but any exemption into events for that reason will be lost once he turns pro.

Btw...he's going to be 17 yrs old in about a week. (April 19th or so).

I hope that Whan maintains the LPGA age Rule.
There hve to be better ways to get money for the family than to make your kid into a pro athlete at barely age 15.

This rarely turns out well. How's Tadd Fujikawa doing? Nice kid, turned pro at 16. He must be about 19 by now.

I'm not claiming the Thompson's DO need the $$....just a thought.

As for Tadd Fujikawa....great story initially. Not a good story now. He's basically languishing on the mini, mini, mini Tour type events making $1000+ here and there. Dad is in prison for drug trafficking.

Thanks, mom and dad.

I know you weren't claiming that about Mom and Dad Thompson. Sorry if I implied that it was your opinion.

Very sad about Tadd. He could have been on a full golf scholarship in college somewhere. nurturing his talent and getting an education.

Alexis has had more success than Tadd has had. Still you never know what can happen when a 15 year old turns pro.

She (Thompson) could be younger than the young, young, very young Maguire twins, but I'm not certain.

They are all fifteen,I know. But I'd feel really sleazy if I was to start looking up the dates of birth for girls that age ;so I'll simply bow to your judgement...

It's probably not sleazy for me to look it up. Maguire girls: Born November 1994. Thompson: Born February 1995.

I was actually just guessing before when I said I thought Alexis was younger. I never heard of the Maguires until this thread. It was a lucky guess.

File the Maguires' name away,in the back of your mind, for future reference.

As they are very young, there is no need to burden them with great expectations. But,if they continue to develop, they could,Leona,in particular,be very good five or six years down the line.

As long as they don't have pushy parents...
