You pay the same taxes as any other U.S. Citizens. When you get your Permanent U.S. Residency Visa, the first thing you do when you arrive to the U.S.A is go to the Social Security office and apply for your SS card number.

They get what is called a P-1 visa. It goes to sports and entertainment people and allows them to work in the US.

It is a special classification non immigrant work visa. There is no quota. It basically is just a formality and no one usually gets turned down (if it is legit).
Thanks for explaining this, xman. I guess we need another theory on why the number of top women Korean golfers is dropping off. My theory is that the Jiyai Shin generation are those who were inspired by Se Ri Pak. It created a surge in interest in kids who are about 10-12 years younger than Se Ri, that's now fading because there hasn't been another single dominant Korean player since Se Ri. Jiyai may come close but her impact won't be felt for years to come. We might see the same thing among Japanese kids inspired by Ai Miyazato.
