2008 Michelob

Ok folks - I hope you caught some of that SemGroup TV coverage. Dorothy finished in fine style with a tidy 5th place finish. Spouse and I are on our way to the Michelob - laptop in tow - where I hope to see some more of that great play. I'll post here, as my time permits. :)

Ricearoni ... I will be there all week with my twin daughters. We will be following Morgan. Hopefully, she will get it in gear this week! This will be our 3rd year. What a beautiful venue.

Hi All - We arrived here a short time ago - quite a trek from San Fran to Williamsburg, but well worth the effort. This part of the country is so beautifully green - trees everywhere. The view from our hotel room shows pines, magnolias, and probably 5 or 6 other tree varieties. So beautiful and so fragrant.

We're getting oriented to the area now, and just came back from dinner - "Red, Hot and Blue Memphis Barbeque". Wow - so good. Huge tasty portions along with blues playing harmonicas and guitars - so fun. Tuesday we'll walk to see Colonial Williamsburg and William and Mary College. Lots more to see later in the week.

Ha - had a close encounter with JRo. Spouse - or should I call him Scout? nudged me and nodded in the direction of the plane reservations desk - there she was - multi colored coif and head scarf - looking as intense as ever. Wished her good luck this week.

Dot made a blog entry today re: the Semgroup tourny - Glad to have finished the event off right.

Thanks for all the good wishes, friends. This is a new event for us and should be a blast.

Mothra87 - I'll look for you and your girls to say hello.

Have fun Rice....you are in a great part of the country. You might want to check out Busch Gardens if time allows. I think it is only about a "par 5" from the course, but needs a full day to enjoy.

Buzz, we will try to "sneak in" to the Busch Gardens affair with the tournament group if they allow us. It is a nice annual event.

Me, again. We had a full day today - thought I'd jot this down before we leave for dinner.

This morning we decided to walk and soak up some historic sites - and the architecture was just a start. We're surrounded by Colonial structures - either white clapboard or red brick houses with gabled roofs - and most festooned with American flags. Really striking. Our feet led us right to the Willliam & Mary College campus where a young history student and then another resident pointed out interesting sites for us. We saw their football field, classroom bldgs. then wandered into and throughout the Christopher Wren Building - the oldest on campus (1695). From there we strolled through Colonial Williamsburg, then made our way back to the hotel.

After a swim and lunch, we drove to the River course at Kingsmill to see which players might be practicing. We were allowed to park on site, then just strolled from hole to hole, and made our way to 2 chairs which 2 residents had thoughtfully left along the 11th fairway. From there we saw so many of our favorites - most playing in threesomes, but notable twosomes were: Pat Hurst and Juli, Natalie and Nicole Castrale. We were able to exchange greetings with Sophie G. and Angela Stanford, then walked to the putting green, through the club house, and to the driving range. A thought about holes 11 through 14 - greens were all elevated and players practiced from those trecherous lies beyond greenside which from our standpoint, looked like no man's land.

We'll be at the course early for the Wednesday practice round - more tomorrow.
