| Senior Member | cin - wished you'd have emailed me - we could have met, and I would have treated you to lunch - oh woulda, coulda shoulda - the course is a killer to walk - but very beautiful - looks like the TV showed that off. Okay - Last report - Our range duties went smoothly, thank goodness. There were a few laughs between players, like when Juli asked Stacey P about the previous night's baseball game, and Stacey answered that she doesn't watch baseball. Jules shook her head and said "I don't know anyone who doesn't watch baseball!" When Suzann and Lorie left, we picked things up, then headed to lunch (btw - much better volunteer food than last year - It pays to complain, or rather stongly suggest. ) Hubby went to follow the "wee Mexican" and I walked to the 9th green to meet up with Dot's group. The Delasin family plus other Dot fans and other spectators crowded around. Amy Hung made her way to the green first, then when Dot approached, there was a big ovation. Amy turned around to Dot and bowed, - Dot answered with a curtsey - very cute. Ok - here is some hole by hole descriptions: 9th hole - Dot's approach shot there settled at about 2 feet from the hole, so she had an easy tap in eagle. 10th hole - her drive was short of the green and she took an extra put for a bogey. 11th hole - approach to a greenside trap, from there to within 6 feet and 1 put for a birdie. Then came 2 pars. The bogey at the long uphill 15th was a surprise as she'd played this hole well in the other rounds. Nothing else notable happened except for a nice par on 17 where her approach shot landed to about 15 feet from the hole. After signing her card she came out to the immense crowd of autograph hounds. Paula and Jill were still there, signing away too. I parted ways with the family, cut in line, shook her hand and told her good work, and that we'd see her next year. I then joined Hubby at the newly installed grandstands on 18. We watched a few groups come in, then stood to watch the Lorena and Suzann show - What fun that was! Most of the folks around us were cheering for Lorena, until they started to play the second playoff hole, then we all agreed that it didn't matter who won - they gave us some terrific golf. Oh, the comments I overheard from the spectators: - Paula turned 21 in August at the Solheim - A fan pointed to Dot and referred to her as Juli - Delasin is 18 years old - not! - Dot's sister Divina and I were walking together when someone went by and said hi Dorothy We were home in an hour. It was a terrific week, and we look forward to more of the same next year. |
