The video of part 2 of Bivens' interview is here: http://www.thegolfchannel.com/core.a...0&select2=8725 Here's the part of the interview with Bivens that had to do with Wie: TGC: [Michelle] had a tough year in 2007. How important is it for the LPGA to have Michelle Wie playing and to have her playing well and competing at the top level? Bivens: Um, you know, anytime you've got somebody who is charismatic and who is a draw and fans and the media likes to follow, it's an advantage. Michelle had a tough year. Michelle wants to go to school and I'm so glad she's being afforded that opportunity. When and if she decides that she wants to come back out and play on the LPGA, she'll be welcome. TGC: She had some problems at the Ginn Tribute in 2007 which was a new tournament hosted by Annika Sorenstam in South Carolina. What effect did that have on Michelle's relationship with the LPGA Tour? Bivens: The situation that Michelle went through at the Ginn Tribute was extremely painful for everybody. Her and everybody watching. Um, it's not something that someone who's very seasoned necessarily knows how to handle. I think she did the best that she could under the circumstances and I'd say that I think the LPGA is a very professional organization and one incident is not going to affect -- hasn't -- and won't affect Michelle's reputation nor the relationship with the LPGA. Here's the part of the interview with Bivens that had to do with playing at Augusta: TGC: What other venues, historic venues like the Old Course at St. Andrews, are we going to see the LPGA Tour players playing in the coming years? Bivens: A lot of the courses that the men have outgrown that are kind of landlocked at 66-6700 yards are actually to the point that with the technology and with the improvement in the women's game are actually perfect for the women to play. So over the course of the next few years, Tom, I think you're going to see us play on a lot of those great old courses. TGC: That would be exciting. Augusta. Would you ever like to see the LPGA Tour play a tournament at Augusta National? Bivens: Oh Augusta is such a special place. For anybody in or around the game of golf, the legends and the history of that place rank it, frankly, right there with St. Andrews. Um, so, um, so right now as long as the membership policy is what it is at Augusta the LPGA could never play there. I will say for anyone who's ever -- any of the women -- who've ever been guests of Augusta, they are so hospitable and so gracious and they are very equitable in their treatment. I do hope that their membership policy changes. And at that point I would love to see the professional women play a tournament at Augusta. |

"she did the best she could under the circumstances"? That's certainly different than Bivens' previous statement about a lack of respect on Ms.Wie's part. So what is it Bivens? Are you now prepping for a political career(talking out of both sides of her mouth).

I don't recall Bivens making a statement about Wie's lack of respect. Wasn't that just Annika? Anyway, I thought Bivens' facelift (Botox, whatever ...) looked good. Last edited by Blue; 02-13-2008 at 11:36 AM. |

Since the spell checker wants to change Bivens to Bovines, I may just start referring to her as Mrs. Bovines.

There were several articles written supporting what Cleo is referring to: one by Brian Hewitt on TGC, and another by Jason Sobel/Ron Sirak/Tim Rosaforte....and then the generic, Associated Press, which is usually Doug Ferguson. Viva Annika |
