| I'm not banging you. I just wanted to fill you and others in on the real facts. I apologize if I offended you. I know for a fact that ALL tournaments had written contracts. I had good inside info when Votaw was in his seat and I have good inside info now. Everything that is written in the press about contracts not being in place is simply not true. Regarding the TV. The contract Votaw signed with the Golf Channel PAYS the LPGA. The contract that is in place with ESPN is a risk/reward contract. LPGA makes money off that. It has a very similar structure as the NHL/NBC deal. The reason there are fewer televised events today is that some the events that had TV contracts are gone. That has nothing to do with the contracts Votaw signed 3-4 years ago. Fluffy |

im not offended at all. im just tired of some people bashing this woman who has personally done nothing to them. a lot of thier criticisms of her border on personal and i dont agree with that. as far as your information goes i would like to know how and where you got it. that way if it is indeed true, i can spread that and stop the misinformation that seems to permeate this site at times. thank you and god bless

If it indeed true? Why would it not be? If Fluffy says it's inside information, why would you doubt it? The "marketing guru" apparantly doesn't understand that losing tournaments that have tv contracts also means that you lose coverage. Or, did she just assume that TGC or ESPN were so desperate that they'd automatically pick these events up?

Believe me. It's all true. I can't reveal my sources but some have worked at the LPGA and some still do. Enjoy your day |

number one...i never said i would doubt it. however, since he said himself he could not reveal ANY sources one does have to wonder. im not calling him a liar, but to be credible he needs to tell us at least one of his inside sources. im not going to go on blind faith of someone's "inside sources". what i have went is what has been printed in the press. and no not the new york times!. Fluffy i hope you are not offended, but the fact that you cant name one source while i have the information stating the opposite, it does lead one to wonder.

The quickest way to dry up "insider" information is to reveal your source. Ergo, I find it difficult to doubt Fluffy, and can easily appreciate the fact that Fluffy does not reaveal a source. Whether or not I am privy to "insider" information is something I would not reveal, either. Viva Annika |

It will be interesting to see what the LPGA schedule looks like for 2009 MP. Between the problems with the economy and increased fees for sponsors the LPGA is hit with the old double whammy. Ms. Bivens could control one of these factors, but not the other. On the other hand, Television is a business of numbers, that gravitates towards personalities when it comes to covering sports. People on the fringe of sports, tune in when the names Kobe, MJ, Tiger, Roger or yes, even Michelle appear in the promos leading up to an event. People will not tune in when Yin, Yang or even Yani is leading or winning an event, The top five players in this weeks WBO were Asians and I am sure the numbers suffered, not from prejudice, but merely from preference for personality. 2009 sets up to be a very difficult season for all sports and Women's Golf will be no exception. Ms. Bivens has not positioned the Tour well to survive the challenges ahead and maintain what the Tour has already gained. A CEO needs to inspire confidence and reduce or eliminate criticisms of the company they lead. At times, Ms. Bivens appears to be the Captain of a rudderless ship, that will inspire confidence in no one. |

i think bivens has inspired confidence...at least with the lpga board of directors and players. this is a very difficult economy right now and yes some of the lpga's sponsors have fallen to it. but that doesnt mean the sky is falling or that the tour will cease to exist. its just a period the tour is going through. and the tour will emerge stronger than ever.
