Smile Bivens replacement?

OMG, that's it, OMG!
--------------------------
As it turned out, a small group of elite LPGA players had called for the resignation of their hard-charging commissioner, Carolyn Bivens. But Stephenson's friends were doing more than just alerting her of the news. "They were all like, 'This is your chance to be commissioner,'" Stephenson recalled.
Commissioner Jan Stephenson?

"I would absolutely love that job," the 57-year-old Australian confirmed Thursday from her Florida office.

Smile

Sorry, but there was another OMG moment in Jan's comments.
------------------------------------
If she landed the job, Stephenson said she would help second-tier tournaments stay afloat by instituting more creative, fan-friendly formats, including team play and mixing fields with senior legends like Nancy Lopez, or even male golfers from the Champions and Nationwide tours.

Yeah, Jan Stephenson is exactly what the LPGA needs. Just imagine the fiascoes she could create with her view of the Asian players. She'd make Bivens look good, which is no easy task.

Christine Brennan opines in USA Today:

Player revolt against commissioner Bivens latest danger for LPGA - USATODAY.com

Hire Nancy Lopez to be the face of the tour and hire a real CEO to run the thing. Kind of like what I said in the other thread.

Good article, Blue. She played in the pro-am last week. Her tee shot off the first hole was almost a shank (with a driver), and came close to hitting two players on the practice putting green. Jamie Farr gave her a mulligan, though, and she then hit a good drive down the middle.

Nancy could be the figure head with a "qualified business women" as the defacto head but that person better have a good working knowledge of putting tournaments together.

Bivens might have had good credentials but her lack of understanding of the dynamic of the industry led to the misfires. Stacking her staff with yes people made it worse. The next person had better not have to learn on the fly since there's no time for trial and error at all.

Forget Jan because the Asians won't.

Specific names, other than Nancy, are starting to surface for new LPGA commissioner.

Here's an article mentioning Donna Oreander, the current president of the WNBA. On paper sounds good. I've been saying for a while that someone from the WNBA would be great, but it depends on the person.

Also, why does everyone assume it has to be a female? That seems both sexist and limiting.

I cannot imagine the talk of Jan Stephenson is serious.
