Bivens Kills Another?

Carolyn Bivens' assassination tour continues. It appears she may have killed the Wegmans tournament.

Same old story, she's demanding higher fees and is difficult to negotiate with.

at this point this is just speculation. some people have compared corning and rochester and because of that many fear that rochester will be dropped from the schedule. i really dont think so. the rochester area is around 300,000 people with a fairly strong corporate base, while corning is a small town of around 10,000 who's only major company is a glass maker who is barely holding on. i hardly see a comparison. until we get the word one way or another we cant bash our heads into a wall with every article about an event that maybe, might, possibly not be renewed. every time a title sponsor is up for renewal on any tour, these types of articles come out. so until the final verdict is in, we all shouldn't worry as much. after all it does not accomplish a thing to do so.

Here's the results of Carolyn Bivens 2009 assassination tour so far, according to my calculations.

SBS Open - dead. Bivens bungled contract renewal
Honda LPGA Thailand - unknown
HSBC Women's Champions - unknown, probably on
MasterCard Classic - unknown
J Golf Phoenix LPGA International - precarious, J Golf sponsorship deal was only for 2009
Kraft Nabisco Championship - appears to be on
Corona Championship - unknown
Michelob Ultra Open - most likely dead
Sybase Classic - on?
Corning Classic - dead and buried (with tombstone provided by LPGA)
State Farm Classic - on
McDonald's LPGA Championship - dead, LPGA Championship will probably live on at unknown course with unknown or non-existant sponsor
Wegmans LPGA - on life support

What about replacements for the dead tournaments? There is the new J Golf tournament in Los Angeles and rumors of an additional tournament in Mexico. It's still a net loss.

Not entirely her fault, but don't forget the Ginn tournaments. Those $$ signs and greed on her part. I wonder what research she did into their background before she thrust a contract in front of them.

Forgot that. I didn't include the tournaments that were DOA before they even teed it up this year.

There have been so many, it's easy to lose count. Of course, Wiefan and DB will blame it all on the economy. It can't possibly be her fault, can it?

I have attended the Rochester Wegman's Tournament for the last 10 years. This year not only was the weather horrible but so was some of the changes that had taken place. Food stands were not acceptable. You could not buy a coffee until 9:30 A.M.. The first tee offs were shortly after 7:00 A.M. each day. Rumors were in abundance reporting the LPGA had pushed out the former concessions. The Rotary Club used to run a few concessions, serving breakfast etc each year. Some of the money went to the LPGA and some to Camps sponsored by the Rotary Club. The rumor is: the LPGA demanded a much larger cut of the profits and basically the Rotary Club declined and were pushed out or paid off to leave the event.

Lori Kane was very vocal this week in regard to losing this tournament. Nancy Lopez played in the Pro Am's. She was in the stands Thursday. From what was being said...the players like this tournament. I don't know much about the ins and outs but I do know the mood and morale of most was very low. For me, it would be a shame to not have this tournament.
