Again this issue is old news. And the idea came from two top Korean players who thought the idea was good but they were never brought into this the commish took the heat to protect them. You can continue to rehash old news but I can tell you the players are fine with the commish, she is not going anywhere, oh and brace yourself because we will be losing more events in the next few weeks. Due to the economy nothing else...but Im sure somehow this too will be Carolyns fault. This crap is one of the reasons I don't post much anymore...

Rossi, all well and fine that Bivens took the heat regarding all this, but don't you think the whole thing would have carried more weight if those two Korean players had been allowed to speak up with their reasons for suggesting the idea? Just reading that they were the promoters of the suggestion gives an entirely different slant to the issue.

Sad to know that even more events are going to be toast.

Better yet, even if the idea did come from two Korean players, wouldn't it have made a whole lot of sense if the LPGA brass even knowing that the idea was:
1. introduced by two Korean players, which Rossi tells us now it was
2. legal, which it was
3. supported by most of the LPGA players, which we understand it was

was still going to be a PR nightmare. They should have listened to the players and found a way to help players who wanted to learn English do so but not come out with a Draconian ruling that would play out poorly with the public and the media.

Don't let those Carolyn Bivens haters bugged you Rossi. There are quite a few here, like Wiefan and Me who still like Bivens.

its more the economy frustration and loss of events we are giving many options to tournaments to help these times but in reality the money is not there but insted of being honest in the media its easier to make us look like we are greedy which is so not the case. Same as the english language, granted it turned out to be a bad decision on the tours part to go forword with this (mistake noted) and dropped but really isn't our country in enough trouble with many other things that time should be spent on creating and saving jobs for people etc. insted of focusing on passing a language bill? We all agree it was a mistake, at the time it was thought to be smart because all of the sponsor pro-am complaints of not being able to speak to the pro. So you try to make some people happy you tick off others. yee-haw! As far as Bivens goes, she may not be the most popular but it is always better to work with the devil you know then one you don't. Just remember when the announcements are made next week for tournament loss the tour gave every option to save it and we were declined.... PS I love danger bob you make me laugh....

I was fortunate enough to have been in the company Friday and Saturday nights (for dinner) with several PGA exec's and player's agents at the Verizon Tournament here on the island.
I learned plenty by just listening, but I did ask a few questions. One thing I learned is that the LPGA tournament at Kingsmill is in plenty of trouble and may be cast into the waters of the James River by Michelob after this year. Another thing I learned, from an agent who represents a Nike sponsored player, is that MW's contract renewal is a performance based one. I was not able to find out in depth details on either because of the many interruptions by cell phones and people coming to our table to say "hello".
I am leaving home in about five minutes to join pretty much the same group for lunch and to watch the final day of the tournament. Looks like another nice day.

I've heard that IMG only negotiate performance based contracts, so that information should be correct.

Buzz.... I was wondering if Rossi's suggestion that a coupla tourneys were headed for the chopping block included Kingsmill. Odd though...they just signed on to be a sponsor of the Futures Tour, but maybe in a much less $$ deal I guess.

Also, I wonder about the State Farm Classic. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Hope you enjoyed the tourney! Too bad we weren't together in Orlando this weekend at the GINN!! Grrrr.

Hi Lojo....I just returned from the tournament....left pretty hastily to escape the crowds. I only live less than ten minutes from the course, but the roads in Sea Pines are only two lanes and can get pretty congested....especially at the entrance where there are gigantic car parks.
The guys I met for lunch were mostly the same as my dinner partners from the previous two nights, but there were a few, new, that I had not met. The conversation started almost where we left off last night. I really only asked one question; and that was about the Michelob people signing on for a futures tour. You had the right answer. Cost. It was also brought up that the new owners of Budweiser were scaling back on all of their sports promotions, not just golf. Baseball and NASCAR were mentioned, and since I'm not a big fan of either I couldn't exactly follow that conversation.
I did not mention the State Farm, but it was brought up by one of the sports writers as being "iffy". He did not elaborate. He also said that he heard the LPGA commissioner's job has already been offered to a prominent person whom he would not name, but two other men said: "That's true". Being a guest I didn't feel as though asking questions was within my propriety.
Very little time was spent on the LPGA and its problems. More time was spent on the PGA and how well it is weathering the storm. Actually, most of the time was spent on the economy, the bail-out, etc.
The best part of all this hobnobbing is that I was invited to be a guest at the PGA Championship in Ponte Vedra.
This is all the stuff I missed out on the past four years as I was hobnobbing with you, Cougar and more recently Putter and Heddwyn at the LPGA tournament in Orlando. Truth be known, I'd rather be in Orlando with y'all.

By the way, have you noticed that the Ginn name doesn't appear in the ads for the Reunion Resort in GolfWorld, etc. Hmmmnn...wonder why??
