ADT is dropping out after 2008

This should NOT be good news to Carolyn.............ADT Security Systems has announced that they are dropping out after this year's tournament.........here is the story from AP:.....

By Associated Press
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The LPGA lost another title sponsor Friday when ADT Security Services said it would not renew its contract after 2008 for the tour’s season-ending event at Trump International.

The ADT Championship began in 2001 and transformed into one of the more compelling events on the LPGA – a 30-player field whittled down to eight for the final round where the winner received $1 million.

The company did not specifically state why it was not renewing its contract, only that its strategy is investing in growth areas of its business more closely aligned with its customers.

It was a blow to the LPGA, which already has lost four title sponsors this year. The tour previously said one of its majors, the McDonald’s LPGA Championship, would not have a title sponsor in 2009, and it has said it might fund the Phoenix event that lost its title when Safeway consolidated its LPGA sponsorship to one tournament.

“While we are disappointed that ADT won’t title the event beyond 2008, we look forward to working with them to ensure the 2008 event is the most successful to date,” LPGA commissioner Carolyn Bivens said.

Bivens said the LPGA was discussing future sponsorship with several groups.

Boola: I don't like Bivens leadership. These drop-outs are due to the economy
not her.
Bivens should have a news letter to the fans at least once a month in lpga.com.
The web site should have each player an up close and personal page much
like Annika's.
I really know nothing about Kimmie except she is getting married and may
or may not be sick.I wonder does Kimmie have a pet? Does she even have a
drivers lic? She likes to Ski more on that. I would like an update on her.
People ask all the time where is so and so and we don't know.
If the player chooses not to participate then fine let us know.
lpga.com should have a link page to each players web page if they have one
without having to go to each players info page to see if they have one.

Anyone can have a web page for about 26.00 a year with more then
enough room for a persons needs. About 10gigs. I payed a one time fee
for my software of 49.00 and it is so easy,WYSIWYG type. I also
have a free html program that makes html loads easier.
Thanks for the update Boola.

So, another tournament bites the dust. The LPGA will be in serious trouble if Bivens and Company can't find some replacements quickly.

While part of this is due to the economy, I also think that part of it is due to poor planning on the part of the LPGA. There doesn't seem to have been any contingency plan.

According to Beth Ann Baldry's report from Maui, this is what the Commissioner told players in a meeting:
Beginning in 2009, Bivens told players that Stanford International will take ADT’s place at the end of the schedule as a stroke-play tournament, doing away with its current pro-am format. The tour championship will take place in Houston and will consist of a 120-player field. Bivens did not disclose the course.

But, MP, she told us she has sponsors lining up to take tournaments, so we know she has this covered.

Cool

The Welfare Office must be next door to the LPGA Office. She looked at their line thru her rose-colored glasses and got confused......AGAIN......

Much like Queen Elizabeth and England's Golden Age, with Queen Annika's retirement the LPGA will look back on her reign as their Golden Age, the possible full time status of "the pretender" not withstanding.

If Bivens keeps going the way she has, there won't be a full time status.
