Juli was upset by the numbers 74, 75, 76, and 75.

In a early post I described 4 ladies that I most admire Julie was one of them. Her heart to compete may well still be strong but age will take away your game. Maybe it's time for Julie to look for other places to channel her energies. My opinion only. You know my opinion and a dollar will buy you a bad cup of coffee.

I'm not ready to count Juli out, just yet.

I followed Juli for the first 6 holes of her final round at the Safeway International. I heard her compliment a player on one of her shots. I saw her stop to have an amiable conversation with several people she recognized in the gallery. She did not do as well at the Kraft as she had hoped, so she was probably more serious than usual. But she has only played in 3 tournaments so far this year. And the year is very young. Believe me, this year's version of Juli Inkster is as good as just about any previous version. When she does decide to channel her energies elsewhere, the LPGA will have lost a treasure.

Everyone has bad moments. I've always admired Juli and believe she'll stick around for another few years.

Here is my two cents to the story. There is friction between her and her caddie, Worth. His daughter played Kraft last week and having him gush about his daughter all week when he should be concentrating on his job.. might have been too much for Juli. She also played crap (for her) which is never good for a players mood. Greg quit Brittany Lincicome (he worked for Michelle Wie for a year) and I have a very strong feeling he is going back to work for Juli. I think that will make her happier. All speculation of course.. We'll see what happens |

I believe this is his second time as Juli's caddie. He was Cristie Kerr's caddie in what was her best year on the LPGA tour (2005). I have had occasion to follow Worth as both Juli's caddie and Cristie's caddie and I like what I have seen. If there is frictions between the two of them, I would speculate that it predated the Kraft Nabisco and the Kraft is the point where it became visible. Frankly, I would kind of like to see Worth go back to Cristie. Like I said, he was her caddie for her best year. So maybe it will all work out for the best.

I would like to revise my guess...Rumors are flying around that Pettersen fired her caddie..My guess is that's where Greg is going next. Should make for a good team. |
