MP hit the nail right on the head..."making" news is the name of the game. We - LPGA fanatics - can only comment on the fact, but do you think we're representative of the public at large? Nope.

I hold a degree in Broadcast Communications but it doesn't take an educational degree to figure out that the media will capitalize on what's commercial. Broadcast operations are based more on appealing to the masses and what is commercial, for their operations are a business. It explains players who are publicly perceived to be "cold" versus the "anointed" ones. Broadcast operations do not budge, despite our hardcore knowledge, because creating commercial hype increases the mass audience interest, hence, the bottom line. It's all fact versus our knowledge of what should be. The formula will never change...commercialism.

Fantasy world for those who believe broadcast operations present "real". I personally have seen local reporters stage segments for broadcast as if they were shooting a movie.

A certain amount of integrity is necessary, such as black and white reporting of scores, but they must appeal to the largest common denominator as established by the "buzz." It's how these guys earn the money to present what they do.

Geez DB, you sure have a lot of time on your hands customizing all these cartoons. Shouldn't you be out stocking up on beer for the U.S. Women's Open?
