What if there were no golf tours reserved for females?

Hi Karin,

You are a long hitter so my question is this. Do you think you could make a living playing professional golf if you were forced to compete against men, in other words, there were no golf tours reserved just for females?

Hey GXER,

This is a very hypothetical question and I find it quite difficult to answer.

Right now I would have NO shot at making it on the men's Tour (I assume you mean one of the major ones like the European or the PGA).
Growing up I was always a longknocker and most courses played quite easy because of it. Since I didn't miss many greens I never felt the need to develop a good short game. This is something that I'm suffering from now, even though I'm working hard at it and really trying to make up for the lack of practice I've had earlier in my life.
If I would play on the men's Tour, the longer courses would make me miss more greens and at this moment I don't have a good enough short game to score well when I do miss greens.

Had I played against boys growing up I might have understood the importance of chipping and putting at an earlier age and had that been the case I might have had a better shot against the men later on. But there are lots of "if's" in that sentence....

I hope this answer isn't too confusing...

See ya

I can't believe I am reading real posts from real Players

Hi Karin.

I can't believe this is an actual reply from a real LPGA player. I checked the LPGA website and you are Ranked #1 in driving distance!!! Waooo!

I don't have a question right now but just want to wish you good luck on your short games.

LPGA Championship Win or Qualify for US Open

Simple Poll.

Which is more important to the "Wie Team", winning the LPGA Championship or Qualifying for the US Open?

I'm sure she would be very very happy to get either.

A more interesting poll would be which will she do better against in strokes, the cut line at the Open Sectional, or the winning score at the LPGA Championship.

Did you vote?

PS: The reason I asked is that this is a public poll and we are supposed to see how each member voted. So far all I see is my vote.

I would say winning the LPGA title would be more meaningful than merely qualifying for the men's U.S. open. Yes, a woman qualifying for the U.S. Open would be unique. But male club pros have qualified for that major in the past too. Winning the LPGA would be huge. I don't think Wie will accomplish either one this year though. It seems she has trouble closing the deal. The pressure gets to her. But with more experience, she will learn how to win and be a great player.

I voted that it's more important to the Wies to qualify for the US Open.
