What is the reason

that she has played bad the last 3 events. (2 missed cuts and W/D) In this week event she is +7 after the first round. She didn't have birdie in the first round. Is she hurt or what?

From the bit I watched, she missed some 5 foot putts by about 1 foot wide so her putting looked awful. Maybe she has other problems as well.

Maybe we should blame her father, as that always seems to be the case. Well at least to some posters.

I had heard that Ai withdrew from an event recently and had given absolutely no explanation for why she withdrew. She just walked off the course.
On the golf channel UK, the commentators, Tom Abbott and Laura Baugh were saying how odd that was. Tom Abbott said maybe she has some personal problems but Laura Baugh said she had talked to her recently and she was all cheerful and happy.

Then I read on the golf channel boards that Ai had withdrawn after she was doing fairly well and then she hit 3 balls in a row into the water and she just got p*d off and walked off the course.

I guess she isn't a superstar in the US since this went practically unnoticed, I hadn't heard any controversy about it. Maybe there was more discussion in Japan about it.

I hadn't heard any of that, Paddyman. Maybe she's having some problems with handling the pressure of expectatipns. A very interesting post by you.

Miyazato pulls out of final round

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Kyodo) Ai Miyazato withdrew from the LPGA State Farm Classic after feeling unwell during the final round on Sunday. Miyazato started the day in 17th but got off to a poor start with a double bogey on the first hole and her game went on a downward spiral from the fourth at Panther Creek Country Club. The 22-year-old made three consecutive bogeys from the fourth and decided she could no longer continue after she twice hit the pond on the way to a triple bogey on the seventh. Miyazato was quoted by her manager as saying she had been suffering from dizziness since the morning. It is the first time Miyazato has withdrawn during an event since she made her professional debut in 2003.

Thanks, Sag. That explains it.

I have to agree that the pressure may have something to do with her last five outings where she's missed the cut and had one WD. This is 21 starts this year, up a little from the average 19 starts for a lot of the other players. She has had a good year but I think her handlers expected a few wins.

I believe she'll get her share of wins before all is said and done. Her handlers may have expected too much this early in her career, but she's got a good game and I have to think she'll break through in the fairly near future.

It could be unknown injury but most likely outside distraction. I heard that there have been on going friction between Ai's dad and high powers of jlpga ( or jga) though I don't know what was reason for this friction. That should explain why she skipped two major championship in her homeland despite she didn't have any conflict of schedule. Ai decided to play in navista classic, inaugural tournament over japan women's open, national championship. Clash of egos may explain her odd choice.
