A "stat" question

Hi ya Lojo and her formidable staff...ok....I am Back....here is my question

when following the LPGA's stat....I have noticed the more than a few times they credit a player with a "Missed GIR" and a two putt...for a score of PAR

how is this possible?....if the ball in on the fringe and a player uses a putter...should it NOT be that it is considered a putt...I mean it is the same scenerio as a player off the green using a putter...they do NOT credit this as a putt

also if I am not mistaken a ball on the fringe is NOT considered a GIR

thus....outside of a spotter/scorer making a mistake....how can you have a missed GIR and a two putt for a par....does anyone know of a scenerio for this happening

anyway...thanks a lot...have a good day...wiesy didn't have a good day today....but so it goes in golf...some days NOTHING works....anyway...back to the question I stated....can someone please explain this....all I can think of is a scorer's error....anyway....see ya

Sorry, wiefan. I don't know the answer. I always thought their stats were "putts per GIR" which would eliminate a putt made from off the green being counted. Dunno.

Lojo...actually the Tournament site just runs a running total...only if you follow someone hole by hole do you get to see the increase of girs and putts as they are posted....this helps to guess what a player has done.

example....on a par four...if a player has a GIR and a one putt...probably a birdie.....a player having no GIR and no putts but getting a birdie usually means a chip in for Birdie...a player having a Par with no GIR and no putts would indicate a player chipped in for a par

anyway...I was just curious about this as I have seen this happen a few times in Wiesy's round....personally I think it is just a scorer's error of no GIRs and a two putt par

anyway...have a good day...see ya!!
