4putt - this is where these women go to make a living. Your idea of higher entry fees for those higher up on the money list doesn't make any sense. It sounds like a penalty for playing well to me.

OK, say someone way down the list who has paid nothing to enter (according to your scenario) and has a career day, wins enough to put her in the "you now pay $5,000 to enter the next tournament category" - for years she's been scraping by, bearly making ends meet and now you're going to up her entry fee?

I pay a fee for equipment in my job - if they tell me I have to pay more for it depending on how much I make in a month I think I'd go a little balistic!

And no, I don't have a "fix", I just don't think your idea would be it.

MP...I believe you misunderstood what Wiefan was saying. If a professional golfer has a sideline busisness...say a Pizza Parlor Business. That's seperate from his/her golf profession, so he/she can not deduct his/her expenses from his golf tournment as a loss from his Pizza Business. That's a no-no! He/she can only deduct his/her tournament expenses or golf equipments expenses from his/her winnings from golf tournaments.

A professional golfer is actually a self-employed sub-contractor and he/she can only deduct his/her expenses/losses from his/her winnings in the same year and can not retroactive his/her loss the year before.

If you have any more question...I have a friend who is an IRS tax auditor and I'd happy to give him your phone number.

Man...I'm still in jury duty and it's a very serious crime, so it's taking a long time. They said another week before deliberation.
Hi ya dangerbob...don't FORGET...after your jury duty...let us know what it was about and what happened.....I just love to serve on the JURY....the only problem is that they NEVER ever select me....I mentally prep myself to answer Jury type questions that will probably please both sides and thus get me elected and NOT Kicked off....but so far....no such luck....heck folks....here is my personal belief....

if ever there was a person that was PERFECT for Jury duty...it is ME....yep!!...as all of you know, I am a pretty humble person.....I really really want to serve on a jury...but alas....fate is against me....funnny think is that over 99% of those chosen actually wish they could have gotten out of it....HOW YOU FIGGA????

anyway....have a good day....I think I will take my "B-" grade and just sneak out of the back door before they take this away....see ya....have a good day

by the way....in a few hours...Wiesy Tees off....good luck Kid.....GO WIESY!!!!....see ya!!

Sure Wiefan...we are instructed by the judge not to discuss anything to anyone until the case is over.

DB, you need to give them a fair and impartial trial before you hang them. It also helps if you stay awake during the whole trial.

As far as your tax example, you're right that a player can't use golf losses to offset profits from their "pizza business." But, they're free to incorporate themselves and show a loss. That loss can then be carried forward to offset future profits.
