Caddy lining up player.

Larry of lifeontour reported this incident.

Enough already! One of the banes of the LPGA is caddies lining up players. We see it more and more but the father of Angela Oh took it one step further in the qualifier. After lining her up, he would go to the side and check her ball position. What’s next?

This golf disease, caddies lining up players, is spreading. I see it from time to time on the PGA TOUR and on the European tour as well.

Hi ya folks....if you get a chance to see Cristie Kerr's caddy....he is really flirting with the rules

when a caddy lines up a player....he then moves completely out of the picture as his player hits

Cristie's caddy takes just one step to his right and stops....I guess this is Legal but I don't see other caddies taking only this one step

folks...this is just my observation....at this week's tournament, should Cristie get air time...check this out....I have seen this happen on almost every shot of hers

anyway....have a good day....but then, Cristie is playing terriffic golf....so maybe this is a good thing...hmmm....see ya!!

Rule 14-2b states that in “making a stroke,” a player shall not allow his caddie to position himself on or close to an extension of the line of play or the line of putt behind the ball. A caddie may position himself/herself in this manner before the player commits to beginning his/her swing but must move away once the player is set to begin the swing. Failure to do so will result in a two-stroke penalty.

Wouldn't one step away clearly constitute "close to" an extension of the line of play?

Hi ya whistling straight....thanks for the rules....here is my opinion...Cristie Kerr's caddy is sure testing the word "Close"....folks, I happen to like Cristie....I am just stating something I have observed...if any of you have taped the last few tournaments...Cristie was on TV...check out what I am talking about....all of the other player's caddies MOVE way out of the picture...Cristie's caddy Hangs around in the vicinity

anyway...thanks for the post Whistling Straight....have a good day...see ya!!

Distances you see on television can be much longer or shorter than what they are in real life.

Blue,

Wiefan is correct about Cristie's caddy, he was fully in view on the TV during Cristie's swing.

Hi ya Blue...you are correct....however....here is what I see on TV....a caddy lines up the player on the tee...he steps away...the TV camera is clear of that caddy

in Cristie's instance...her caddy lines her up on the tee....he steps away....the TV camera still catches 60% of the caddy during Cristie's swing

folks....I know I was not imagining this...I hope that someone who taped the tournaments can verify this....I just know I was not "Wiesy-Drunk" and imagined this....I saw this happen about three different times....this is what caught my attention in the first place

anyway....the key here is the interpretation of the word "Close"....but to see Cristie and her caddy during a swing off the tee....is NOT like the other players where you only see the Player and Nothing of the caddy where he is standing

anyway....have a good day....too bad about the Celtics....they made some really stupid "NOT PAYING ATTENTION" "NOT FOCUSING AT ALL" blunders when NO one was even guarding them...I counted at least four times....this shouldn't be happening at a game seven.....anyway....Rondo has to work on his free throws and outside shot....he is a SUPER TERROR right now, but with this improvement....he becomes a "Tony Parker" type of player...truly unguardable....just my opinion....see ya!!

Cool

I'll back you 100% Wiefan....on the Cristie c addy thing. I noticed it several tournaments ago. Not only does he take just one step to the right, but then he assumes a hands-on-hips position that reeks of being defiant.
